Dry mouth/thirsty

Hi all

I've been suffering with a dry mouth/feeling thirsty for a few days now. My blood sugars have been a bit unstable (due to stress, uni etc) so I'm assuming that is the cause but I can't be certain. Has anyone else suffered from this when their sugars have been erratic?

I will contact my diabetes team if the problem persists.

My sugars have been ranging from 4.0 to 7.0 during the past couple of days so I'm slowly getting back on track.

Answers on a postcard please :)

Sorry, a load of questions, just to cover off factors outside of blood glucose (I'm also a T2, so might be missing a T1 specific issue):

Do you know how much you're drinking per day?

Do you know what your salt intake is per day?

Are you on any other medications? For example, diuretics for blood pressure can cause this side effect.

As a T2, I had excessive thirst, but for me that was only when my BG was consistently above 10.

I never really drink much anyway but I'm forcing myself to. I know I was admitted to A&E once with a very fast heart rate and it turned out it was because I had high blood sugars and I was dehydrated - don't want to go down that road again!

Before I never really drank much at all but since trying to stay hydrated I drink about 4 water bottles of squash every day. Don't think that's near enough what I should be drinking though.

I don't actually count my salt intake (oops!), and as for other medications I'm only on my insulin (Novorapid and Tresiba). I do suffer from hayfever and take tablets for that but it's nothing serious.

Lately my blood sugars have been consistently over 9/10 so maybe that is the cause.
