I’ve got Covid and been prescribed the antivirals - I’m hii ohgh risk as also have cancer and had chemo u til recently. My blood glucose levels have gone super high. I wasn’t warned this would happen even though they knew I was on insulin. I am going to up my basal today as I took so much rescue rapid yesterday….

Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

Firstly - hope you recover ok, covid is a b*gger with BG.

Not had the anti-virals, but did have covid recently and potentially that could be behind you're high BGs - any infection response in the body can cause high BGs (hence 'sick day rules' which are to increase basal and bolus)

Morning jalu47

I had Covid earlier this year and was given the antivirals. They did not seem to affect my BS. Unfortunately I could not tolerate them due to the side affects namely GI upset. I have colitis and there are quite a few drugs I cannot tolerate.

Hope you begin to feel better soon

I’ve got Crohns as well as pancreatic cancer so constantly in GI upset so don’t notice anything additional on that front - always in a spin!

Thanks that’s a really good point - forgot about the general impact of infection! Doubled basal this morning and still had to rescue with big doses of rapid.. it is such a b*gger as you say. Just got steady after finishing chemo and lots of steroids which were the worst!!
