"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Hi Ann, I was diagnosed with Angina about 20 years ago and Diabetes about 15 years ago. The Angina didn't bother me anymore when I started to watch what I ate but I thought it had started up again the other night. The chest pains have just about stopped I'm pleased to say. I've started the anti-biotics today so hopefully shall be soon back to normal. Arthritis is so painful, I have it in one hip and my thumbs. WD40 is not a good idea, it smells horrible Lol!!! Take care :)

On my third cup of tea but can't decide what to have for breakfast. It might just be some cheddar melted onto RyVita with maybe a smidgen of pickle. That would do for now and then I can think of a main meal for later in the day.

Morning all. I tried your melted cheese on Ryvita @Annb and enjoyed it. It was something different. I'm in a lot of pain so I don't think I'll be eating much today. Feel more like going back to bed.
I often have that - it's tasty and simple to do when I really don't have the energy or the resilience to stand or use my hands very much. I hope you feel better soon. Not a bad idea to go back to bed, if that's the way you are feeling.

The fruitcake was not a success. As was measuring out the ingredients I thought it might be a very heavy cake - and it was. More of a pudding than a cake. So much fruit relative to the amount of flour and egg. Have to find a much lighter recipe to make today.

I didn't bother with any meals yesterday. Just the cheese on RyVita for breakfast and a few extra slivers of cheddar during the day. Must do better today.

I suppose bacon and egg is probably the best option for breakfast today and the piece of salmon that Neil bought for me will do for the 2nd meal, with some leeks. I really will try to get around to that and not just put it off to get on with other things, which is what I often do.

Arthritic flare-up has dropped back to normal level now, so I should be able to get on a bit better today.

Thanks for the suggestion Rosemary. Coincidentally, I looked that same recipe up online a few minutes ago and decided it would fill the bill.
Oh no, @Annb sorry you didn’t get on with the recipe, hope this one is better for you.
Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the weekend. Been very lazy today and enjoyed sitting in the garden working on my to read pile. Let’s hope @Antje77 has had a more exciting time! Advantage of the weather, too hot to cook so salad for lunch and just had scrambled eggs on livlife toast for dinner

The motorways were kind to us today. I'd feared we would get stuck in searing heat, but no.
Eggs for breakfast, seedy crackers with salami and cheese for lunch. Small ice cream.
D: meatballs with tomato sauce and cheese. Another mini icecream.

Our very elderly cat isn't doing too well. He's 19. We lost his sister last year. It will have been 39 years since we were last catless. Hubbys even more of a softy than me. Not looking forward to next couple of days.

Hugs for what's to come.
I hope you have a good vet in case it's better to help your cat along.
What's his name? Care to share a picture? I'm always happy to spend a thought on a beloved but unknown to me cat about to leave this world.

Count your blessings too.
On friday when I came back from my morning swim, the car in front of me hit a cat (and didn't stop, *******). No saving that one, but it had to be carried off the road, a handsome dark brown cat with light stripes, so I put it on the side of the road with the ugly side out of view before calling at some doors and having the animal ambulance come for a chip check and to take it away.

It sounds like your cat has had a wonderful and very long life!
Doesn't make the hurt any less when it's time though.

I was foolish enough to taste the pineapply fruit cake. It tasted absolutely great but so very pudding-like. Put my BG sky high though. I made the Granny's Kitchen sultana cake today and it worked fine, but it is very dry. I've wrapped it and put it in a plastic box alongside the other cake and hope it will be better after a day or two. Not sure what to do with the first cake. Maybe Alistair will take it and do something with it.

Food today was the same as yesterday other than the "cake" - didn't bother with the bacon and eggs for breakfast - just had 2 RyVitas with cheese (not melted this time) and a few more slivers of cheese throughout the day. Must stop this lazy way of eating.

Not sure how I changed from being the notorious couch potato to the one having the famously exciting times, but yes, I had a very exciting time! :joyful:

I've had an absolutely amazing weekend at this festival with neighbours Tale and Astrid!
Two nights in a tent, music, booze, great food, swimming, pretty decent BG, meeting another T1 in the wild and having a laugh over our diabetic nurses throwing a fit over our dirty, calloused feet, neither of us has worn any shoes all weekend. :hilarious:

I'll see if I can share some pictures tomorrow, Astrid made lots but I don't have them yet.

Astrid and Tale are now very much a couple. At 53 and 64 they are as clingy as the worst 15 year olds discovering the fun of love for the first time!
I'm very happy for them, even though it does hurt a bit as well.

Yes, pets worm their way into your heart @MrsA2 and if anything happens to them, it's just like losing a member of your family.

As a cat mom myself I’m sending you hugs for the next few days.
