Freestyle Libre 2 plus

I just got a text from the NHS to say that the Freestyle Libre 2 sensor will be discontinued and I will automatically be moved over to the NEW Libre 2 plus , other than the fact that it only needs replacing every 15 days does anybody know of any other advantages or is that it ?

I currently use Freestyle Libre 2+ along with Omnipod 5 closed loop. I have found it reads consistently lower at least 1mmol sometimes more. I have also found towards the end of 15 days the sensor tends to come loose. I use skin tac wipes when I change the sensor, which has helped

Fitted my first one today for start up tomorrow. It's ment to be more precise than the 2. It still works with Juggluco. So hopefully it'll be as good or better than 2. As my sensor has been a godsend 3 years in.

I really haven't had any problems with Libre 2 having it for nearly 2 years and was just hoping there was going to be something extra with the Libre 2 plus but from what I've seen it's pretty much the same .

L2+ is the same as the L2 (same equipment built in). They have extended the software to allow another day running time.

I found my L2 was less accurate towards the end of the 14 days (as my body healed around it), 15 days (when overriding the timeout on the software with a MiaoMiao) didn't help my loop.

I've switched to Dexcom One+ (10 days) which works well if you give it time to 'settle in' from insertion trauma (first 12 hours or so)

Don’t personally want an extra days wear. I like to change mine on the same day when it is convenient.

Doesn't seem much point in the change really , like becca said I would sooner it stayed the same so I could change it every other Thursday , i'me a creature of habit I guess .

Is the sensor coming loose from the sticky pad or is the pad coming loose from the skin?

If the former? I try (easier said than done.) to place it on the flattest part of the arm?
These discs don’t bend.

Interestingly. (Or not.) I left a sensor on after it expired & found it stuck fine for 18 days?
I only removed it as I was bored with the experiment…

My guess would be this is cost reduction to the NHS - price per day is decreased, so modifications to prescription renewal time (15 days per sensor rather than 14) would save a lot of money across millions of people.

Watch for your GP altering the times between re-order dates I guess

in addition to the 15 day change time , it is also compatible with the Omnipod 5 HCL pump.

this means that a lot of people on omnipod Dash could have access to HCL technology by switching to Omnipod 5( hybrid closed loop. )

Previously the Omnipod 5 only worked with the Dexcom 6 or 7 CGM.

There is a big difference in cost for the dexcom compared to the Libre 2+ with the Dexcom being more expensive.
