I have been changed to a Dexcom One plus but find they keep failing. Is the Libre 2 plus continuous or do you still have to actively wave your phone over the sensor every time you want to see your reading please?

I use Libre 2+ and it is a continuous glucose monitor. You have to scan once to start the sensor. I previously used Dexcom 1 and for me it was better than Libre 2. I moved to Libre 2+ when I started on Omnipod 5 Closed loop.

Hope this helps

Thank you. I am desperate to have a pump but seems little hope as I’m too old and not in the age category

I think you only get them if you are a child or trying for a pregnancy , otherwise there isn’t any funding

This is incorrect. There are lots of grown men and post menopausal women on a pump.
What have your endo and diabetes nurse told you when you asked about a pump, and how long ago did you ask?

This applies to closed loop along with people who find managing the condition hard and have a high HbAc.
The criteria for just pumps are still strict and very few people make the grade unfortunately.

I’ve expressed interest in a pump.

However….
I’m told my area has the funding.

…..But not the trained staff.

But then?
The average diabetes nurse in the past has gushed, “maybe you need a pump.”
Then look at me like I’ve asked them to service my van when I say yes please..

For at least a couple of decades many DSNs have written cheques they can’t cash… ;)

I still use the Libre 2 & it works nears as can be flawless as a CGM..
I even use a smart watch to relay the numbers?

I have been told ‘hopefully within 10 years’. I am 74 now so might just as well give up now!
I turn 57 tomorrow. (4am to be precise according to my mum.)
I can’t understand how folk my age have been given the opportunity of using a pump at least 2 decades back?

I’ve even contemplated selling my van & with the overall savings on vehicular consumables & keeping the vehicle on the road. Funding myself with a pump??
But then.. what can I do for work…?
I just don’t get “it.”

I find Dexcom one + is better for myself never once had any issues with it , so much more accurate than the libre and the data graphs are amazing in the clarity section .

How long did it take to get accepted for the omni pod system please, i too am on the libre2+ sensor but want to get the omni pod to compliment it, the email i got back said it could take up to 5 years to get put on it. I'm even on a waiting list just for a general appointment to go and discuss it, i have been diabeteic for 16 years now i know what technology will be of benefit to lower my overall blood sugar levels. I pay a lot of various taxes and have always worked full time, never off work ill, all i am try to do is prevent complications and further costs on the NHS.

I use Libra 2+ and find it keeps a consistent reading and have no problems with lost of contact, but with both devices you need to keep them in range and not leaving them away from you.

If you are using it with an Omnipod 5, then it is only swiped when started. You can continue to use wit a Libre app on a phone, in which case you have to scan with a phone to get a reading.

I use a Libre 2 plus with Libre app on my phone and only have to scan it with my phone to activate a new sensor. If I lose connection, I switch Bluetooth off and on and it generally restarts. Otherwise, I scan, but that is very seldom. At one point, I had 3 successive failures with Libre, but otherwise it's been very reliable.
