Libre 2/ 2+ in Portugal.

Messages

I am currently on holiday in Madeira ( Funchal).
To cut a very long story short I am now without a libre2+ sensor and intend to purchase one when the majority of the Pharmacies open in the Morning (Monday)
Has anyone had experience of purchasing Libre2+ or a 2 in Funchal...?
I am getting conflicting information online regarding availability?
Thanks Mark

Hi,

I’m currently in Croatia. (I appreciate that’s no help where you are..) :)

It’s my understanding that Abbott have “geolocked” sensors to the app in the region?
(Similar with regional licencing with DVDs & compatible players globally..)
So, if I managed to source a sensor in Croatia (where I am, for instance.) it would not be compatible with my UK app?
You may need to use a VPN & try to download the Portugal version of librelink in order for the sensor to work..?

Here is some info based on my thoughts..

@Jaylee when I visit the UK I cannot use the UK Libre sensors, so I tried downloading the UK Libra app. This was a while back, If I recall correctly it wouldn’t allow me download the app as it detected I had a Canadian iphone .

I can use French sensors in the Netherlands.

There might be a workaround on your iPhone the next time you visit the UK?
It seems possible to change your Apple IDs country in settings?

This video might explain.. (this person is actually changing his phone’s ID to Canada.)

Fortunately I have got my blood glucose tester with me, so back to finger pricking for a week...!
Can't believe after 48 years of being a type 1 how ' naked' I feel without the libre tagged to my arm..!
All the best and thanks again.
I'm headbutting 50 years T1.
I thought the meter was civilised?

This is "star trek" to me.i relay the readings to my watch..

I reached 50 years at easter and managed to get our IT guy at work to get my watch to talk to my phone.
It really does feel like sci fi with what we have compared to the 1970s and long may it continue ......
