Long term

Just wondering if taking my breakfast insulin an hour before is a good idea as I seem to spike quite badly once I take my long term

You may be best to ask you DN or Dr but if you are only using long lasting insulin it should make little difference that fast as it can take up tp 6 hours to het into your system, Mine is Troujeo (long lasting) which insulin are you using ?

Hi I use Humalog rapid and ablasagar long
I’m a T1 on a pump now but previously I injected my long acting in the morning and at night split roughly 12 hours apart. I’ve personally never used the insulin you are on and according to google the initial action time can range from 1.5-3 hours although that can differ from person to person so take that with a pinch of salt. I know when I was on long acting it didn’t start working within the action time.

Personally I would speak to my diabetes nurse to see what they think in regards to changing anything with your insulin especially long acting as even a simple change can affect other times of the day as well and they’ll know best in your case what to do.

Edit for spelling
