As I was doing my Basal Trujeo 44 unit the pen stopped as I was half way injecting
i had to remove the pen and saw it was 20 units to inject left but the button would not press
when I removed the needle the pen had a rubber bubble at the end so I disposed of the pen
do I inject 20 u later with a new pen or just leave it ??? My Dr surgery and DN are not open today can anyone please advise

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your faulty pen.

In this situation. If I was confident of the remaining dosage. Use a new device.
If not. I’d monitor closely & use correction doses of bolus accordingly?

Then dose the basal the next time due…

Either way, I’d keep a closer eye on BGs.

how sure are you of the amount that was actually administered?

Other choice if taught correctional doses with your bolus and could do that. or ask nhs 24 tel: 111

Can inject straight from fridge stings more, if deciding to do that would leave out of fridge for an hour. see page 6, 9 and 16 of the manual: https://www.mysanofiinsulin.co.uk/t...oloStar/Toujeo SoloStar Handbook_Original.pdf

keep a closer eye glucose levels throughout next couple of days

Thank you after an hour I did inject the 20 units I was short, from a new pen and did a reading. With it being Basal It could be up to 6 hours before I see any difference as it is. If anything happen will just eat some Jelly babies
Sometimes with basals for me if the dose is off & it causes hypos. They can sometimes recur?
Fast acting carbs carry as a “stopgap” but it maybe worth while following up with longer acting carbs.

I’ve found I’m chasing the dragon with too much basal onboard throwing JB or haribos at it?
