Greetings all,

Just wondering how many of us are taking Dapagliflozin, and how many are suffering the side effects eg Thrush, Dehydration, Needing to wee a lot?
I was on SR Metformin for many years until the stomach aches it gave me became intolerable, and now my GP has switched me to Dapagliflozin which seems to have an almost negligible effect on blood sugars, but really bad side effects.
How are you getting on with it?

I'm getting on pretty well with it, though the diuretic effects are a nuisance. Also, I resent having to eat carbs as I've successfully lowered my weight and BG by going keto. We are not given a minimum level of carbs to eat, which would be useful information. I am taking Dapa for heart trouble, not for diabetes, so don't feel I should stop it. My diabetes was well under control before when on the keto regime, but my heart is trying to kill me.

Yes, the diuretic effects are very noticeable. I only have to look at a liquid to make me want to wee. Carbs? Is there something I should know about carbs and dapagliflozin?

A keto diet isn't advised as dapa *could cause DKA

I've been on it for years without the usual issues, but I've always been a big drinker (a slow day for me is 3 litres of fluid) Your body does get used to a higher hydration level and slow down the toilet visits, although if your BG's are higher then you will need to pay a visit more often
