Surely this must be a faulty sensor

I woke up from a nightmare last night, to find this reading on my Libre sensor, up to 28, then plummeting down and stuck at 17.9. Initially alarming, to say the least, especially as I felt unwell

I still can't manage fingerprick, so rely on the sensor, accepting give or take 15% usually. But this was ridiculous, way above my worst high. So I assumed it's wrong. Still alive, but shaken.

Impossible to know without a finger prick. But stress can increase blood sugar, so if it was a bad nightmare maybe it can do this. That would explain the speed it came down as well, presumably as you relaxed after coming out of the dream.

Has it been ok since? If so I’d guess the sensor is ok, but keep an eye on it.

It sort of looks like the reverse of a “pressure low.” By my eye.

I fingerprick test is the only way to confirm.

I have read that dehydration can affect the interstitial fluid the sensor checks.
Were you thirsty when you woke? (To be fair. I’d be parched with BGs that high.)

Hi Rosie,
Hope your blood sugars have settled down.
I have been having issues too with my Libre sensors recently.
Have a call scheduled with the medical boffins at Abbott tomorrow morning in relation to massive variations between their sensor readings and my finger prick tests.
A finger prick test in my (47 years of ) experience is a far more reliable measure of blood glucose.
If you can manage to finger prick you'll have a far better chance of knowing where you're blood sugar is at.
I took a screen shot of my libre graph from last Sunday. Peaking at over 19 (never happened). then falling to below 3 within an hour or so. (also never happened).
If I get any sensible answers from them tomorrow I'll let you know.

I must have seen thousands of screenshots of Libre graphs on social media, and I have never seen a straight line up like yours.
The Libre algorithm is even built to refuse to show data in case of ridiculously quick drops or rises for safety, this graph should not exist.

What did happen on your Libre between that screenshot and now?

I must have seen thousands of screenshots of Libre graphs on social media, and I have never seen a straight line up like yours.
The Libre algorithm is even built to refuse to show data in case of ridiculously quick drops or rises for safety, this graph should not exist.

Thanks, Antje77. After the screenshot, it went off - stuck at 17.9. I thought it must be a sensor glitch. The one thing that bothered me is it coincided with waking from an awful nightmare, as if my BS "broke" it. I've replaced the sensor. I haven't been well, and my BS, which had been well controlled, is not so much, but nothing like this.

I would definitely attribute this to a faulty or glitchy sensor and assume your bg stayed more or less the same except for maybe a crazy short spike because of the dream, especially because you usually son't see anything like this.

I hope you'll feel better soon, not being well can play havoc with our numbers. Your graph looks really pretty up to the glitch though, especially if you've not been well!
