preg diabeties

I'm 31 weeks preg just been put on insulin for the morning to start with been told I'm to be induced early too anyone else had this plz any advice appreciated

I'm not a gestational diabetic, but a Type 1 on an insulin pump. I was told right st the start of my pregnancy that I would be induced by 38 weeks at the latest, will be scanned at 28, 32 and 36 weeks to ensure baby is not growing too big. I am 28 weeks pregnant and baby is in the 90th percentile growth wise so fingers crossed they'll stay within the 'normal' range! There is also an increased chance of needing a caesarean but at the moment my obstraetician is happy to let me try and deliver normally. Again, fingers crossed! I take it that now you will see a Diabetes specialist as part of your maternity appointments? Once a month I see the obstraetician and also the diabetes consultant, though I have been told that that will soon increase to fortnightly appointments. Good luck!

I believe that inducing the birth at least 2 weeks early has always been the procedure due to weight gain in the baby. My lad was early and weighed in at 9lb 1oz. Pleased to say he is an extremely fit, well built man now of 39.

I'm type 1, my little boy (18months now) I had my section early due to number of factors including my health(terrible sickness,hypos and uncontrollable rebound highs) and my wee boys size. I had him at 34wks and he was 7lb7oz and perfect!! Needed little help with feeding but other than that healthy & well. The doctors try not to bring babies out any earlier than the 38/9 th week in pregnancy now [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]

Hi - I had gestational diabetees and whilst i was allowed to remain diet controled they still induced me early. I think they say its because they dont want to add any further complications to the birth. DONT PANIC. I was told my child would be 9lbs she was born one day early vag birth weighing 6.8. p.s stay away from pethiden but when the pain gets unberable the epidural will be your best friend. they have changed it so you will be able to feel your lower part of your body. good luck.x
