Why does glicazide [is this a sulphonurea?] cause you to put on weight?

Just a query as I read on this site that this is what happens. What are sulphonureas anyway,what do they do that metformin doesn't?
 
Sulphonureas stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin, "hence they are not used in T1s as the pancreas is already "shot") this increases the supply of insulin, a hormone which induces carb storage as fat.Hence in conditions where there is a supply of carbs, weight will tend to increase.
 
what do [sulphonureas] do that metformin doesn't?
As mentioned above, they increase insulin production by the pancreas to reduce blood glucose levels whereas Metformin works mostly by reducing endogenous glucose production in the liver (t2 diabetics produce 2-3x more glucose than healthy subjects).
