Anyone who asks a question about diabetes without thinking what they're asking.
Bear with me here. I treat a hypo usually with 10g glucose, followed by a couple of biscuits. However, my brain tells me to eat everything in the kitchen and the kitchen as well. So I usually bolus for this. Does this make sense?

first of all generally you should treat with 20g of carbs which are fast acting ie mini coke or carton of juice. test and repeat in necessary in 5mins. Its hard to keep the hypo monster at bay but try - you shouldnt correct for 12-24 hours after a hypo as your liver is doing funny black magic.

to your point bolusing for over eating - if you have to do it yes bolus but aire on the side of caution. best not to do it at all though.

I personally wouldnt bolus nr an hypo,
i just have 3 glucose tabs and if ages off a meal a slice of bread

Before a did DAFNE, a hypo would open the floodgates for me.... I'd polish off loads of yummy stuff!!!!

I just seem to go mad, with absolutely no control whatsoever. Seems like when I'm below 3, a switch flicks in my brain :-(

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I've just eaten all the kids snacks. The only food left in my kitchen is meat so I am now eating that like some crazed food obsessed woman!

Bolusing when hypo is the last thing you want to be doing Tom, just resist the urge to eat everything and treat the hypo depending on how low you are, if you drink some fast-acting glucose such as lucozade this will get your bg levels back up fast and diminish those hunger feelings.

Having a spike from hypo to high is not good. Its that spike that causes the most damage to eyes etc.
This is why my diabetes specialist told me to treat the hypo with just enough glucose so for me, its 100ml Lucozade and 10grams carbohydrate like a banana or a digestive. That usually brings me up to about 7/8.Its also easier to keep stable blood glucose when you are within range. Its those spikes which we are to avoid as they cause the complications

I use to eat the contents of everything in the kitchen and when I was first diagnosed I was told to sit down and rest till you felt ok but I never did which prolonged the hypo. Since being on this forum and so many of you treating low bg's with a few jellies etc , I now take a small bottle of lucozade and sit down till it has passed this seems to work very well. I know I use to be really active when hypo and carry on with what I had been doing that's not a good thing, slowing down seems to be an important thing even though it's not always possible to do
