Have you ever seen woody allen's film Sleeper. All the healthy foods in the future are cream cakes. Oh heaven!

Ok. So now I'm confused! Am trying a few things out at the minute as it's the school hols. Walked to shop 60 minute round trip. Cooked tea. Meatballs and salad.bs 7.6 45 mins after food. 2 hours later 6.4 ate square of choccie 81% cocoa and 23/100g carbs. 45 mins later bs 5 and have got headache?!

Why confused Scandichic. That is a great response. I doubt you are seeing the chocolate yet or probably will at all as you have the insulin in your system.

Shouldn't bs have gone up? Am trying out things to see what impact is. 3 Thorntons eaten 1 morning at 11am sent bs up to 9.8. Just trying things out so that I can have. What to avoid. Want to try glass of wine next. Ideally crispbread and rice, too. As more ammunition when talking to doc.

Well done! It will take a few days to fight the sugar cravings but stay strong. I too was morbidly obese. 16 stone 1lb. I have loads of recipes I can give you, if you want.
Oh caught button. Where are you from? Swedish by any chance? Got a fab recipe site if that's the case! I kept a food diary when I first started on 28th of jan. Now weigh 14 stone 5lbs! Measure fasting, the pre and post prandial. Weigh myself on a Saturday but struggle not to weigh self in week. Anyway, nice to meet you!

Hi Scandichick... I would love those receipes. I'm more or less struggling through the days trying to eat as many vegetables as I can, with some low fat meat (mostly chicken, but today had beef stew - bit of lean beef, lots of veg). I need to get into a way of eating that doesn't involve sugar cravings. Love biscuits, cakes, chocolate (don't we all....), but have had two good days now and look forward what the BG will be tomorrow..

I'm German by birth but have lived here in the UK for 37 years now. Feel quite Yorkshire, really.

What's all this about trophies? I just noticed that I have got two.....

Got a big question: How do you overcome decades of procrastination? Everything (anything to do with improving my weight / health, etc,) can always be started tomorrow..

Help

Just imagine the loneliness other diagnosed people are feeling without this site... and the hopelessness.
It is so encouraging to contact others.
Yes whatever diet we choose and what works for individuals is great...
But yes I agree it is about support...x

After reading about low carbing and the effect that carbohydrates have on the body, I immediately started cutting out bread, potatoes, rice, pulses and ate plenty salads, meat, fish, eggs, nuts, cream, butter and a wee bit of dark chocolate. I had a test yesterday and my levels have dropped to 6.2!!!!!

I am really amazed how well this has worked, I am now classed as borderline and the GP said ...just keep on doing what you're doing...it's certainly working. I would like share this story if it might help anyone else who has newly been diagnosed Type 2 - I was very scared and anxious, but now I feel that with the right food (which is delicious!) and a wee walk every day, things can turn around greatly. I hope this is helpful for somebody else x[/QUOTE]

I just thought to let you know that yours was the first post I read when I joined and I followed your example. Have given up bread, potatoes, rice and pasta and my BG is dropping (as well as my weight) after just 4 days. Your post was brilliantly inspirational. Thanks a lot.
