Hi ,I m newly diagnosed with type 2 and am so confused after eating anything I feel so tired I have to sleep , I've even pulled over in my car and had half an hour sleep is this usual? Can anyone advise please

Most type 2s on here use a monitor as without one there is no way of knowing what foods effect you, hopefully a type 2 will be able to advise you more

Have to agree with Totsy re the monitor. You absolutely need to know which foods spike your BS. At the moment, I’m testing 5 x day –and keeping a detailed food diary so I can pinpoint what’s good for me and what’s not. I’m off all (grain)carbs and eat no sugar. BS levels are coming down and within the “normal” range so the no (grain)carb/no sugar plan seems to be working. I use coconut oil for the majority of my cooking. I no longer suffer from any hypoglycaemia symptoms and I have way more energy than before. There’s a lot of information about going low-carb on these forums and it’s really worthwhile thinking about going down that route. You’ll likely notice a huge difference in your energy levels once you’re no longer eating (grain)carbs/gluten. Feel free to ask if you want any more information. It all seems so much worse at the beginning when you don't know where to start - but take your time and read up all you can - and definitely start testing!

That's great. But don't forget/be aware that cutting out the carbs is good - but the other side of the coin is upping your fat intake. I know we've been brain-washed into thinking fat = bad, but there's a lot of research that pretty much debunks this. Good saturated fat - such as coconut oil, lard (yes, even lard!), olive oil, duck fat, etc. is very nourishing (just don't use any seed/vegetable oils). You might find eating slightly more good saturated fat will help raise your energy levels. Good luck.
