hi I have just been told I have diabetes this has come about with me having a swollen foot and toes for the last 8 months and having 2 fasting blood sugar readings of 8.8 and 9.8 over a 2 week period. I had no idea that a swollen foot could be caused by diabetes is this quiet normal? (its my left foot which is always very pale)

Have you had them x rayed? Sometimes diabetes causes a condition called Charcot foot where small bones fracture for no apparent reason. This leads to swollen painful feet but I would have thought they would not be pale. Worth asking for an x ray.

I don't have any pain it just feel very weird and sometimes I get a burning feeling very hard to explain, more worried about what I am going to wear on my feet when the weather warms up as I am wearing uggs at the moment as they were the only thing I could get on my foot other than trainers. I have doctors tonight so will ask him about Charcot foot (thank you)
