i kind of thing your kind of saying "somethings gonna kill us someday" which is true and i dont think lifes worth living if it has no quality, but i think the quality of life can be better not worse with some changes, im much happier now im trying to be healthy than i was when i didnt care

I totally agree Andy,and I don't have a devilmaycare attitude. I am responsible in what I do and am always trying to improve my lifestyle, I think my anger is the media for bringing things up all the time like connecting the coffee theory with diabetics. That gets us diabetics interested and sometimes alter our lifestyle accordingly, but it has actually nothing to do with diabetics. Look at Edwina Curry and her now infamous Eggs comment.

I been on this site for less than a week and it has been a big wake up call. Honestly it is criminal that my doctor telling me for the last two years 1Ac results of 7.0, 6.9 are good because they between 6.5 and 7.0. That doctor is a specialist diabetic dr.

Few days ago I had to see a GP. Discussed with him. He said I should get figures down. After chit chat he said would be better in range 5-6. He said it was not rocket science to do that - but upto me if I am able to do that.

I now testing, testing, testing. I looked at coffee before and sort of got the impression that it was good until one got diabetes then not good.

I have to drink coffee when I get up. 4 cups. Now I stopped using any milk in it. But from testing it for sure increases my blood sugar readings.

I use coffee beans and press a button on the coffee machine . The last packet I bought had a proper food label on it - I can't remember that happening before - it said 83 gr carbohydrate per 100 gr. ( was Jamaica blue mountain beans - real ones not "style").

So upto me . Get better readings need stop this morning coffee addiction .

Have always drunk a lot of it. Black 3 teaspoons. Went to decaf for while but only like milicano and decaf fat nearly £5 a tin. Drink earl grey but only first cup of day.

Maybe drinking a lot of coffee makes you eat less - it certainly works that way for me

It's all about the taste. I prefer filter very strong so that you can stand the spoon up in it but don't have time in mornings! English coffee is the worst in the world. My preference is for the coffee you get as a matter of course in Swedish cafés. I would rather go without than drink weak coffee and there are certain brands of instant that I just won't drink. Yes, I'm a coffee snob!

And there in lies the problem! The only way to get a decent brew is to order a cup of double expresso which is about 2 mouthfuls! I get my revenge when we go to Sweden on hols as my husband claims that they make the worst tea. He even takes his own tea bags with him. However he does drink Samarkand which is made by the Wiltshire tea company and tastes like manure smells so what would he know?!

Zoega Hazienda, fair trade and organic! But for the moment we are short of cash so go for cheaper brands but still organic. Mörkrost förstås.
