Total Cholesterol and Triglycerides

they cannot do a lipid profile at my clinic as the lab they use can't do them.

Thanks noblehead - I've done all the conversions now. Bloods here are reported to US protocols, and obviously I'm still missing the HDL/LDL splits. So, my total is over 5, but trigs are 0.85. Probably can't draw too many conclusions from that, but as I'm in the auto-anti-statin camp, for my gender and history, I guess it's immaterial for now.

0.85 for your trigs is good. Statins will always divide opinion and it's up to the individual to decide if they want to take them or not, I think if my cholesterol were high I'd take them as I have a history of CVD in my family.

I'm taking comfort in that noblehead, and hoping my split is favourable. In any case, I'll keep a watching brief. I have increased my food intake of late (mainly fat and tolerated carbs) in an attempt to stabilise my weight, as I'm now pretty skinny. Naturally, as a woman of a certain age I still argue with myself on the more generous fat intake, although, it's all good fat, and zero transfats or processed food. I sort of feel I'm probably doing as much as I can, without becoming the local food nutter, or tipping my OH over the edge.

I mean,........ His occasional craving for chips will diminish in time. Won't it? ;)

Actually, he's been a star. I'm incredibly fortunate. :D

I wouldn't worry too much and just wait for your results in August when your back in the UK, as for your husbands liking for chips, I can't call him as I'm having them tonight for my tea :) (home-made of course).

Actually, he's out on a boys' jolly this evening, with a friend who is on island on business. He's plotting carbs, and I'm plotting some low carb treats he's not too keen on. I quote,"Brocolli? I can't see the point of it myself."

I know how to live. :D Win-win, I call it.
