Who are they?

A little while ago a contestant cheated, immediately confessed and got a lump bitten out of his **** by lunalinda while defending my honour. It posed a moral dilemma. Was it his fault for cheating or my fault for having a hole in the boat. I decided to stand down and look into how Weewillie dealt with it.

I have produced a few piccy's that nearly measure up to Weewillie's standards and while doing it I had a dream. I wanted to find a piccy of someone that was very well known but not easily guessed. The piccy also had to resist cheating and not be able to be run through any image search engines.

The current piccy is about right but it is not my intention to torture you all. I will give out clues as tradition demands but not yet. Allow me to wallow for awhile. I will then see if I can do the same for more piccy's.
 
Thank you Squire. I believe this is the correct way to play the game. You have to use your questioning skills, think and try to work things out , not just google and there's the answer. I don't see how that is a game. Probably because I go back to a time when there was no such thing as google. Not that I'm knocking it per sey, in fact I don't know how I'd get on without it for everyday things, but I'm sure Squire's new approach will make for a more exciting game and we'll have to use our grey matter more, and I need all the help I can get on that subject.

This pic is fantastic Squire, 'cos he has a face you think you recognise, but my guesses have been wrong, so much more grey matter needs disturbing, and it's going to be a challenge. FAB. xx
 
So, middle aged? can you elaborate, one person's middle age is another person's old age, depending on perspective.

Also Squire, I thought an Italian heritage? Is that right or wrong please?
 
Just looked up his Bio. He is in his early 70's and I can find nothing other than he was born American of American parents.
 
So that everyone is ready for the off I will give clue at 10 am. I hope this means that contestants can all be on the starting line and have an equal chance.
 
Thanks Squire. Fantastic, another improvement. Giving the time of the next clue, ingenious!!! I sat at my laptop ALL DAY yesterday to be here to answer any guesses that may come along. I found it good, but there is some pressure when it's your pic, ( or is that just me 'cos I am rather Anal?)

No there is some pressure for me if it's my pic also. The timed clues might help me since I was on my computer most of the day yesterday apart from a quick trip to Tesco (but I hurried back). I must find time to do some work.
 
ROBERT DE NIRO !!! I'd spelled it incorrectly previously! It was my first choice on viewing the pic originally. he fits the profile.
