Cold, blood sugars double figures mmol/l?

Hi everyone,
I've had a cold/cough for a few days and my blood sugar has been a tad high.
I just tested and my sugar was 11.8 mmol/l.
Would the cold affect my blood sugars?

Yes a cold can increase your blood sugar, even though it's a virus, and I can't quite bear to bring myself to explain why. Hint, it's quite disgusting.

So why did I get raised fasting BG (mid 8s when I'm usually 5.5-6.5) when I had a tummy bug?

No phlegm there. At least, I don't think so. Please. Someone tell me there is no phlegm digestion involved in a tummy bug.

That's infection. Infection typically raises blood sugar.
