I have seen lots advertised that taking raspberry ketones can aid in weight loss. But the word ketones scares me! Silly question but are they the same sort of ketones we try to avoid???
Really nothing to do with the ketones we know - but not all diabetics need to avoid ketones anyway. There is a big difference between ketosis and ketoacidosis.
You only have to worry about ketones when you experience unexplained hyperglycemia to determine if the cause is an absolute insulin deficit (without insulin cells can't get glucose and signal that they are starving to which the liver responds by dumping tons of glucose) aka DKA or simply a meal you forgot to bolus for (not good, but not a medical emergency either).
