Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Status

6.7 for me. I was up and about before test and also painful night so I'm not too concerned. Yesterday was stressful too with ex husband shenanigans!

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

Reminds me of the quickest way to lose 11.5stones ... Get a divorce ;-)

My eczema cleared up too!

3.8 this morning.

There are some happy posters this morning, with improved scores. I wonder if being a (relaxed ?) Sunday has any impact for those in that happy camp?

Or the less happy ones aren't posting ... Well done to everyone though!

I wish someone would post higher than me, i feel like a freak...lol :mask:

There will be plenty of people out there higher than you flashy. Obviously, not everyone posts, or finds this style of thread motivational.

At diagnosis, my single, fasting score was as high as yours, although the HbA1C was quite a bit lower, and I have worked it down, over time.

I don't know how long you have been diagnosed, but if you would like any half shifting your scores, ask lots of questions. There are lots of people here who have walked the same path as you.

That sounds ominous Rod. Was it really bad this morning?

Thanks Bluetit, no not ominous at all, just the same old 6.4 for about the sixth day running. On a brighter note after 3 hours fairly heavy gardening yesterday my preprandial of 6.7 went to 6.1 after 2 hours.

18.9 on friday, not on any meds, not sure how often to check, from what i see on here it should be morning and night, just had lunch at one and got 16.1 ?

Flashy, I think you need some help to get these levels down, and about testing. This thread isn't really the right place. May I suggest you start a thread of your own, write down your figures and details of what you are eating, and ask a few questions. People will be along to help you.

Now ya got me worried, I was diagnosed a week ago and told to try a diet for 6 weeks then go back for for another hbac1, my first hbac1 was 66.
I eat fruit n veg and lean meat now and again, cut booze to the minimum, I do take meds for high bp.

Off back to proper doctors next week to get more tablets so i will discuss it with them.

Thanks for your advice :banghead:

You will get better advice about diet on this forum than from your doctor, unless you are very, very lucky.

my sugers still all over place some times it can be 8 or higher other times lower, today was in the 7 figures and the night before i ate fresh fruit and 2 hours after breakfast it was in double figures 10.5 so i still got a lot to sort out in controlling the sugar, some mornings it been 5 or 6, just got to keep a food diary what i ate what time and date how it affected me and the blood sugar result to compare, and go from there that may be a better option to get round it i do know sauces like salad cream is a no no for me my levels go up high. so i hope everyone here that are managing there sugars better to keep up the good work and those like me still working on managing there's better good luck to you to, maybe exchanging ideas could help each other on foods that lower your sugars best for you.

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

Not dangerous as such, but of course doesn't help your averages much, and hence your HbA1c.
Mine was 6.6 this morning. It's normally a little lower, but I went to bed with a higher than normal reading after a big pasta type meal. Do you check your bed-time readings? I found that I need to eat nothing from at least 2 hrs before bed to get a lower bedtime reading, which gives me a better morning reading.
Also think about WHEN you test. I discovered this recently aftyer reading posts from others. If I test as soon as I roll out of bed, it's about 0.5 to 0.7 LOWER than if I test just 20 mins later after shave, shower etc, even though I've still not eaten. It's because the body is saying, "right, you're up at last, better give you some sugar to start fuelling your day." The roll-out-of-bed reading is a better indicator for me of what I've been all night and hence effect on averages - I'm on diet-only
Malc

I can relate to the evening meals causing the meter readings for following morning to be high, so that is an area i do need to address to, and i can not eat and go bed straight away, i have to have a last meal 4 hours before bed yet even though i do it i still get a reading of high level in morning so maybe i need to change a food or something liquid to see if it helps i got to be careful that a hypo does not happen if the suger in evening is low as going to bed with a lower result may be a sign a hypo could happen in the night and vice versa for hyper if it is too high in evening risk of hyper in night to, things to think about even for anyone else who may not of thought about that.I need to find out my HbA1c on tuesday as a double check as i know something of a result was high not sure if it was that.

5.2 for me today.

It is very unpredictable though isn't it? I did 40 minutes on the treadmill an hour before I went to bed, and hoped it would be in the 4s again!

i noticed when exercising it can be hard for me to lose weight i never had a problem losing weigh any other time in my life, though all activities i have been doing during eating healthy the weight is still going up even though i followed the advice from even doctors, and i now think i know why it is going up and it is not the thyroid.however exercise is important and good and i think you should keep up with what is working for you and I do understand what you mean, some times you can do the exercise or the healthy eating it can some times still affect the sugers, just depends on the person i suppose, i hope you get your target and work on keeping it on the number when you achieve it,hugs x

Thank you Spirits! I have been working hard since January 26th to lose weight and am now at 4.5 stones down. But it is SO hard to keep being good. I quite enjoy the treadmill now though and feel bad when I can't do it. Good luck to you too. Keep going - it will be worth it.

aww thank you paulins i appreciate your encouragement and well done you your doing great, i agree with you can take time for some people to lose weight, yet it is worth it in end achieving this, and glad you love the treadmill, i think when we get motivated with something enjoyed andliked your more likely to stick with it and achieve the goal you want. glad you are achieving yours hugs xx

5.1 this morning

I'm trying without my 1 x 500 metformin for the next two weeks. Didn't take it with my evening meal last night, for first time. Nurse suggested I try.
