Well here I am, new 43 yr old kid on the block, a little shocked and finally been given the bolt to wise up with my health. All my life I've been really active and wrongly assumed I can eat anything and I'll be fine. Although I'm a little over weight I'm no couch potato so it was a shock when I started seeing the classic systems of diabetics, extreme thirst, tiredness and peeing for Scotland!

One month in and I've already lost a stone in weight, completely changed my diet and as a result the medication given to me at diagnosis has been withdrawn. So for now at least I'm a diet control diabetic.

Looking forward to hearing reading and learning how to keep my life healthy happy and long!

BTW - I've just started eating asparagus ....... Yum!

Hiya Gary . Please spill the beans and share the tips for your success :)

Hey guys thanks for all the comments, I've started eating stir frays with natural soy sauce substitute instead of oil, there great with some garlic and tined mackerel. Also eating loads of avocado, asparagus and kale. I'm sure it's a bit of a novelty right now so am tying to keep it varied so I don't get board of the same foods.

Can't quite master breakfast yet, I'm Scottish but I hate porridge! What's the alternative?

Bacon and eggs mate I had it today
I bet I hate porridge more than you do.
Porridge is not that good for us anyway I believe.

Breakfast can be great fun ......I am traditional I love oats or alpen with no sugar with almond milk ...
But some people make very creative breakfasts, even curry can be on the menu .....

My family belong to Clan Grant and my son's a baconoholic :) I brung him up right :D
