tomorrow i have a first dibetes health check and blood test, and even though my diabetes is maybe lower to some peoples i have been experiencing today problems with my vision, a blurring,i do not get my yearly eye check to later on in month of june so few more weeks to go for that, and before i got diabetes i have suffered pain in my feet mostly my left and i know the worst for the feet is no feeling in the feet at all as it s more dangerous, has anyone had problems with there eyes, feet, stomach or any other body organ involving diabetes? if you did what was it like or is like? how do you cope or deal with it? have you had any help and support? I had a big shock today I found out the pre eclampsia i had back in 2001 is the key to what is happening to me now, the signs of cardiovascular disease has to be closely monitored as that is next on the list within 10 years maybe sooner, as the diabetes came on before 10 years, so I know things can happen to people any time, it is a concern when one health problem even like PE can trigger off a inner bomb that causes other health issues to creep up, bowel polyps was found purely by accident in me so i am a risk for cancer as well as the troubles in my stomach and uterus adenomyosis and hiatus hernia, the sad thing is adenomyosis is attacking my other body organs as well as the diabetes so it is harder for my body to cope and i am wondering how other people are coping with there conditions of body even if it is different to each other, there must be more to diabetes and i do not think it is all on life style or how you eat there is more deep rooted things going on that even medical teams may not even be aware of so i hope the answers and cures will emerge to fix or correct the errors that trigger off in the body.

Yes I have some problems with my eyes, I have been told that I have Diabetic Retinopathy in my right eye, the doctor said it would be alright for now and not to worry. But I also get blurred vison and have trouble focusing on my crosswords and watching the tv., I am worried about this information even so. I have my eyes tested evey year and my prescription for my glasses has changed every year, it is a good job diabetics don't have to pay, skint is what I would be.
I have not had any problems with my feet at the moment, and I go every 12 weeks or so to have my toe nails cut and asked how my feet are doing etc. and I will be having my annual review next month with the annual arm full of blood tests. Then the nurse will stick a pin into my feet to test my responses, and then look at the new Victoza and how I am doing onit, very fluctuating weight not happy at that. I have also learnt that there are Keto Blood testing machines, I have the dip stick things and never had them react when dipped, I think I might have had keto in the past, because I did loose weight quickly, it was a good theing as my bum went smaller, don't think I have keto at the moment. Looking forward to reading more from everybody, ttfn.

hi scouser, sorry to hear you got eye problems, and that you are aware on the vison what to expect as time goes on, is there anything they can do for your eyes now before they get worse to prevent the worst from happening, I know people get these tests i am due my first one later this month, surely there must be away to stop the worst from happening with the eyes? it must be scary feeling losing control over sight, I know i would ffeel that way, i too been having blurred vision, not under a optician as my eyes been alright for years, all i can do is see how the test goes, I do know i have a problem with my water works, i took a urine sample few days ago to my first diabetic health check and following day was contacted to do a red and white bottle that's 2 different bottles urine so i got to take them back today,if it is kidney related i will soon know, i felt bad discomfort in me body from last night and this morning so if they find anything i will know soon enough.... I hope you can get better help for your eyes, and even anyone else as sight is so precious and important, and being a diabetic it is expensive not easy to deal with either, big hugs x

Hi. spirits, thank you for replying to my post, my eyes do get me down. You say that you have not been under an optician, as yoyr eyes are ok, don't you have an annual Retinopathy screening,as well as an eye test? You do seem to have a very quick responding Doctor, who is getting urgent tests truned around very quickly, and sending two tests together is very efficient. I will hope that the results come through quickly and your treatment is very thorough and deals with the problem, my doctors have not been put to the test yet, so I will have to wait and see. Treatment for retinopathy is done by laser treatments, so there must be time or condition factors involved. I will keep my wits about me, so keep safe nd well, ttfn.

so sorry for my late reply and thank you very much for your kind words. yes been years since i been to a optician, i do go for the retinopathy screening this month 23rd so i am not looking forward to it, plus i do not like the idea of my eyes being messed with for a laser or any other operation in future, however i know what has to be will be either go blind or treat the condition early,I am glad you are doing better with your health to what you was before, and it is nice to be able to talk to you on here and other people, it can be a hard road when there is no support at home,i find it helps me here talking to people similar with diabetes etc. I hope you are getting better looking after, your doctor must not be slack, must be on the ball, hugs x

I am very very sorry to hear you have been through a lot, it must of been scary for you, that is a llot to deal with and it sounds like you may have had diabetes for a long time before being diagnosed or you had a underlying condition you was not aware of that triggered the diabetes off and it went on from there, how do you cope now and how did you cope finding out plus going through everything so quick, I would be over whelmed with fear if I was in your shoes, I hope your getting looked after with good doctors, big hugs x

Neuropathy in the stomach?
Is there no end to this?
Sorry to hear about your problems mate.
i saw a specalist who diagnosed me with gastroenteritis when the diabetes has damaged the negus nerve in the stomach this causes the stomach to slow down or stop the stomach from emptying or closing properly, he prescribed some drugs which i take occasionally overwise i watch what i eat and drink in reason, its like having IBS .

I was diagnosed T2 because of neuropathy, in 1993 had many, many laser treatments over several months took a while but OK now with annual check ups and occasional laser follow ups. Now 75 and still seeing quite well. Everything can be fixed so don't worry. My only real problem now is my feet, they are numb cannot drive can't feel the pedals, numbness travelling up my legs now too but aching probably arthritis. Ain't life grand!

sorry to hear your going through it with numbness and find it hard to feel your legs and feet, must be awful for you, could this stop you driving the car if it gets worse? suppose you would not want that to happen you need your car to get around,I feel sad for you that you gone through a lot with your health. hope this numbness can be fixed or prevented from getting worse, hugs xx

Is world poverty and hunger caused by diabetes?
makes you wonder what can trigger off peoples illnesses and even diabetes there are so many indiagnosed underlying health conditions in people bodies that can add to the trigger of diabetes, to say if a person is starving not getting enough food intake not to over eat i mean starving constant it must have a impact on a persons body even if thy began eating after a long time the body may find it hard to adjust to eating again and that can be like a shock in another way how body reacts, could be a trigger to diabetes especially if the pancreas was not working as it should.

the stomach is a very sensitive organ that is needed and i think it is important when people who experience any problem with there stomach should be taken seriously as whatever causes damage to it for what length of time it happens the damage is no good late left and especially when you know you tell a doctor something is wrong and do not always investigate the cause, I am like you i have trouble with my stomach yet i may have been misdiagnosed, as i got told it is a hiatus hernia and i have trouble digesting food it stays stuck plus i can not feel when i am hungry like i used to it is like the feeling is disappearing, plus everything i have stays stuck when i eat takes for ever to clear out me system, and there can be a number of medical conditions that can cause it i know that, yet since being diagnosed last month with diabetes i am wondering if it is not the hernia something else, I feel sorry for you because you have been through a lot of complications with diabetes and it must be hard to deal with.
