Help! I have so much weight to lose

I always take a list to the GP! You can see her literally bracing herself..!

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

Yes much better thanks....well mentally anyway.
Whereas I've been reading other people's posts where they've come off statins and am worrying about whether I should be on them or not. I don't think I get side-effects, but maybe things i put down to age are side-effects. Also, still have infected ears - am in pain and slightly deaf in one ear. Maybe I should book a GP appointment!

Yes....I think you should........

I am sitting here trying to ignore chest pains.....

No, I am on my own, I think maybe I ought to do something about them. They started after a 30 minute walk. I am such a hypochondriac. I'm sure it's nothing.

Can you pop into your health centre, or ring them?

My sister IS a hypochondriac. It is written on her medical notes! She used to get chest pains as part of panic attacks, but has it under control after a course of CBT.

However, if chest pains aren't a normal part of your life I'd get them checked out. I used to get sharp pains in my shoulder during walks, especially if I did something more strenuous than normal. They are worrying things. I get them now, but in my chest, and at rest - but 2 recent ECGs (for different reasons) have come out with no problems, so I am happy to ignore them as I feel generally healthy - apart from the high blood pressure, the diabetes, the knees needed replacing!!

If the pains are unexpected you need to call someone at the very least. Preferably someone medical!

@cold ethyl @paulins @this is too difficult

I have made an appointment to see my GP on Thursday next week.

Very pleased to hear this. Make it a double appointment to ensure you don't feel rushed. My GP spent 28 minutes with me this morning and I did not feel rushed at all. In fact, she kept it going! We had a good discussion about my diabetes and my surgery. And my anxiety that the surgery will impact on my progress with the diabetes.

Speaking of ECGs, I will have one tomorrow. I was sent home from work today, under protest. Frog marched to a colleague's car!! (My son in law has my car and usually drops me off and picks me up)

I'm burning the candle at both ends at the moment. I have come to realise that diabetes and the way I work do not get on very well. I'm going to have to change my ways.

Very dizzy, legs like jelly.

Managed to get an appointment with my GP. I've never met her before, she's very nice and didn't bat an eyelid when I mentioned low carbing (I stopped short of adding HF).

I found the two flights of stairs sent my pulse rate up a bit. GP checked BP and heart. BP 130/70 which is up from 110/70. She said that wasn't a problem. I've just had blood taken for thyroid check and routine ECG is tomorrow. GP suggested I take a rest from work tomorrow.

I hate being off work. I've had 2 days off in last 3 years, both since diagnosis at the end of November. Even worse my OCD (seriously) daughter has lectured me about being obsessed with diabetes and diet and exercise. We've had a bit of a spat because she thinks I shouldn't go for my walk tonight - I think a leisurely one would do me good.

It's no fun getting old!

Hi, our internet connection failed earlier so I couldn't tell you then, but the pains got worse so I went to our local hospital. They took a blood test at 11.30 and gave me 3 ECG's. The doctor wasn't happy with the 1st and 3rd ECG and said I was cold and clammy so sent me by ambulance to another hospital. (nice paramedics;) :)) I had further blood tests at 2.30 and 4.00 and 3 more ECG's. Also a chest X-Ray. I can't remember the name of all the things they tested for in the blood tests but the troponin test which would show if I had even had a teeny weeny heart attack, even at cellular level was absolutely fine. So my heart and lungs are in good shape. My heart rhythm is still normal. The doctor who discharged me said 2 of the ECG's were perfect, and the other four were fine too just not quite as perfect. The chest X-Ray didn't show up anything but he reckons I may have strained some muscles in my chest, near my heart. He also said it could be that I'm fighting off a virus which is why I've been so tired and washed out. My blood pressure was a bit low when I left - 100/40.

Hubby came to pick me up and then take me back to my car as I insisted I could drive it home.....which I did, but I should have listened to him because it wasn't as easy as I thought. I am exhausted now.

@peacetrain yes I was dizzy with legs like jelly too. I hope all goes well with you and your own ECG tomorrow
