I am having this done to day, random not fasting.
Yesterday pre meal it was 5.5. Tested about an 1 1/2 later 5.8. On going to bed 6.2
This morning, I was woken by my other half at 5.00 he went to work, tested at 5.30 on getting up BG 6.0, had an egg 1/2 later had an egg and a cup of tea. Just tested 8.4. Is this because I have been disturbed and not had a full quota of sleep, as I still feel tired.

Hi pixie,

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for a higher reading and it could have been the stress associated with disturbed sleep. We could eat the same thing every day but it does not follow that daily readings will be identical as there are many factors involved such as lack of sleep, more or less exercise, stress, feeling unwell, timing etc... Blood sugars readings are not an exact science as we are human and individual.

Here's mine for this week

No real pattern is there! Weird I know. I come from Blackpool originally, maybe my liver is remembering the big dipper at the Pleasure Beach :)

There are also meter discrepancies. I have just tested my evening meal. I tried an experiment and tested 6 times within 5 minutes. My highest and lowest of those 6 readings had a 2mmol/l difference. Unbelievable.

8.4 is not very high. I tested myself at the end of January and was 12.7, 18 hours after eating or drinking anything.

Hi everyone, my Doctor is a very happy chappy today. He is pleased with my blood results. My HbA1c is 46mmol/mol.
Gone down from 50mmol.
Kidney/electrolytes normal, liver function satisfactory. Some where off, now in normal range. Just a couple of a little tweaks to have everything normal.
He said carry on with what I'm doing. I told him, I have cut out carbs, I do fry. Carry on with no carbs. I mentioned I have more energy now. I did a 12 1/2hr shift, I had just as much energy after as I did before.
