How much you do is entirely up to you. The minimum suggested is a brisk walk for 20 to 30 minutes a day, brisk enough to make your heart beat faster. There is no need to go to the gym if that isn't your thing. Swimming is also a good exercise, even dancing - and you can do this at home in private. Some people even walk up and down their stairs 20 times. There are so many options.

They say around 30-60 mins a day is sufficient to keep healthy, suppose much depends on your ability to exercise and how much makes you feel better.

I love walking on my own (well I have the dog) as it very relaxing and you can go at your own pace, I was out before for a long walk with my four legged friend :)

Thanks for that everyone I did a lot of swimming but that did not help much I went 4 times a week swam about5 miles a day so I will try walking from monday

Could I suggest that you pick a different title for your threads? Calling all of them "happygirl1949" makes it harder for people who know about your problem to notice the threads.

Walk and listen to some good music, my kids never go anywhere without their headphones:)

Or you could listen to audio books whilst you walk. I worked my way though a BBC radio history of the UK which they released on CD some years ago and it was very educational. I've also got unabridged CDs of the first seven James Bond novels which I plan to listen to whilst walking at some time in the future.

Great suggestion on the audio books :)

I just look at the scenery, the colours of nature, and listen to the birds. I also think whilst I'm walking, and make plans or just dream!
