Today I went for my first review. Good news my hbA1c test was down from 115 to 58. My fasting test down from 15.2 to 7.9 I needed advice on the best way to advance and get better results. I have a BMI OF 25 and run every morning. I asked about low carb diet no comment. I tried to discuss how I could take control no comment. I asked about morning glucose dump shoulder shrug as if they have never heard of it. I regularly test way above my evening test in the morning. What is happening here. I really need help and advice and it is going nowhere. My carbs today are down to 60g and I think I can do better but have slight low carb flu ATM.

Can't offer any advice about your morning bg levels (I'm type 1) but well done on the reduction in your Hba1c :)

Well done on your reduced HbA1c, that is a brilliant reduction. It won't always happen at once. Keep going as you are and you should see even better results next time.

When you test your fasting level in the mornings, are you testing as soon as you get out of bed, or are you pottering about first? This can make a difference, and it is best to test immediately. The 7.9 you had at the surgery may have been caused by the things you did before the test, such as getting to the surgery. By then your body will have been needing food so your liver will have kicked in with its supply of glucose. Nothing you can do about that.

Have a look at the thread posted above. There is some evidence you can reduce your over night liver dumps.

Excellent results all round I would say, well done. Clearly you know more than the medical team who seem clueless.

Fasting levels are often the last to come under control (have a read of Jenny Ruhl on Blood101). My recommendation would be just to carry on what you're doing, it's obviously working but it can take time for your body to fully come to a new equilibrium.

You could reduce your carbs a little more I suppose; do you drink enough water? Do you run before breakfast?

Excellent news on your HbA1c, but I can't believe how unhelpful they were. Don't they want us to get better?

Personally I really don't think 'they' know enough. 'They' don't research, 'they' takes their money regardless. When I go for my tests, I struggle to keep shtum. We really know a helluva lot more than 'them' sadly. Think we are in the wilderness its nothing compared to 'them'. At least we can learn about our disease, but it does leave you wondering don't it!

I do drin

I do drink loads and yes I run before breakfast. Can't seem to change my running time.

I wonder, if you habitually run before breakfast, if your liver has been conditioned to expecting to have to provide a lot of glucose to provide the energy for it, 'knowing' that you won't be eating first? Just a thought.

My meal last night was at 5.30 and was three vegan sausages and three slices livlife seeded bread. Nothing else but water and a ten minute brisk walk before bed. BG was 7.0. This morning on rising my reading was 8.7. And my GP denies morning phenomenon.

If it wasn't for the help and advice on
this site I am not sure what I would be doing. I tried to talk to DN and doctor about low cal v low carb and both deafed me out. I do have problems in that I am a vegan not overweight and don't like too much fat. I am going to see the dietician but if he is as hopeless as my experience with doc and nurse I will be permanently bothering you guys.

Managed a three mile run before breakfast and some of yesterday's frustration has gone.

Thank you guys.
