Hi
On the 6th June 2014 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, after being admitted to hospital over another issue. During my 3 weeks in hospital that included abdominal surgery I received insulin 3 times a day plus metformin at night. After my release from hospital I set about doing the necessary research to stop all drugs as well as altering my mind set over certain issues.
Over the past two weeks my BSL have dropped from 12.6 to 7.0 without drugs; I have been strict regarding food intake; no grains whatsoever at present or starches.
Protein at every meal and no sugar; that's not a problem as I don't have a sweet tooth anyway, but tend toward the savoury side of things.
What amazed me while in hospital was the fact the I was supposed to be a diabetic but was given jelly and ice cream! and lots of bread! In reversing diabetes naturally bread is out of the picture and definitely not jelly.
I make my own flat breads from either coconut flour, almond meal, chickpea flour or flax meal, no wheat at all. Also my weight has dropped from 84.5 kg to 75.1 kg since the 16 th June and I feel great.
I also use a nutri bullet to chop up lots of greens and certain fruit and nuts, use only olive or coconut oil to cook with, don't touch pork in any shape or form and limit excess red meat but eat plenty fish, eggs, cottage cheese and soy milk, plus homemade soups.
Like I said it is a strict eating regime but on an occasion one may need to break out and and have something that's not part of the eating plan; it won't hurt.
