I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 on 25th June 2014. Having had gestational diabetes twice, (undiagnosed until 35 weeks pregnant first time round) I was told I would inevitably develop type 2 diabetes after having my second child; but for this to happen at the age of 44 was a shock! My diagnosis came after a series of very stressful shifts at work.....I started to get physical symptoms 2 days after an emotional breakdown at work. Has anyone had this kind of experience? I know the dispostion was there already, but was it really my time to develop diabetes or was it brought on by stress????
Thank you for reading :-)

I haven't had the same experiences as you so I can't comment except to say that stress often makes medical conditions worse and diabetes itself can cause stress. I'm really just replying to say 'Hello and welcome to the forum'. I hope someone else can answer your question

Hi, welcome - whatever the cause or trigger you have come to the right place. Read around and ask questions, there's plenty of help here.

Hello and welcome. I'm sorry to read your story, but I can confirm from personal experience that a shift in condition can be aggrevated by stress as this was my own experience. I too have T2 which I'd managed successfully with diet and excercise for 6 years, but following a sudden bereavement and associated complication, my diabetes became worse and medication was required.

I do hope, and believe, you will find the help and support you need here. Your diagnosis isn't the end of the world. You should soon start to feel well again if you make a few lifestyle changes to your diet and exercise routine and perhaps accept medication for your diabetes if it is an option for you.

Hope to see you around here more often.

Diana
