My DSN are seriously so frigging useless, just rang them up to see if I needed to come and see them again due to getting a new meter tomorrow for my pump and she was so short with me as if I was stupid for asking! They didn't even ask if my sugars are okay etc!

Yep. She's stupid! and rude! Feel pity! :D

I envy everyone on here with a better DSN than me! My cousin has a 24 hour access to his! lol
Mine won't speak to me - I am so evil. But wait! I usually get on with most people, so perhaps the issue lies with her! :D I am an old bag who refuses to eat the NHS eat well plate and I test regularly too. Am clearly trouble!

LCHF! Apparently, according to dn, I will not be able to maintain and will end up having a carb fest and falling off the wagon. When I felt dizzy, this was due to the terrible diet I was eating. She referred me on to the hospital because I refused to follow her advice. I was tempted to suggest that she should try the diet as she could do with losing a stone or two. The consultant at the hospital was raging over their poor advice and has written to them. As I write this, I am smiling smugly at my 2 stone 12 lbs weight loss, my triglycerides at 0.6, my hba1c at 36-37 (forget which) and my lowered bs. ;)

Yea, but a hot old bag, eh @Scandichic ? ;)

There's no excuse for your DSN to have an attitude, do you just have the one DSN in your diabetes team or are there others, if possible ask to see another but it may be tricky if your current DSN is the designated pump specialist.

There are 3 and I never see the same one, the one I saw last time wasn't even pump trained before...obviously is now but whenever I ask for the other one she is never there now :( They also expect me to be able to get time off of work a days notice just to go to a non compulsory pump group to meet other pumpers! x

A days notice isn't enough to get time off work, you should complain and ask that you are given more notice in future. If the other two are more approachable then try your best to ask for them by name when you book an appointment, other than that Nicola you could complain but that can make for an awkward situation when you visit the clinic.

I have offered this advice before from Great Expectations. Just see DN as the Aged P.

"Aged P doesn't want much. Wemmick says: "Nod away at him Mr Pip; that's what he likes. Nod away at him, if you please, like winking!""

Nicola, its not too hard to pair your new Combo meter when you get it, with yr pump. Accu chek will send instructions on how to do it and if you get stuck, they will help you over the phone. You shpuld be able to sort it without the help of a dsn if you follow the pairing instructions. Look on the pump itself for yr hourly basal rates...write them down on paper, try to remember what yr carb ratio is and correction factor and thrre you have it....job done

Mine won't speak to me either, not my fault she can't see past the bread and potato mountain on her plate, also I like being an awkward old cow, I found it helped to imagine her in her m+s pants snigger snigger, besides which she has to go to the loo same as me.

LOl perhaps she had the same thoughts about you, and had more pressing matters to sort out. Setting up a meter or a pump is just a matter of reading instructions :) So in a way she has done you a big favour........ Stand on your own two feet and take control. You will be fine and as IHS says you have Roche for back up if you get stuck. :)

Christ,I don't want to think of her in her underwear! I already get nightmares - don't need or want anymore! :D
