When I think I feel like my bg is high I give my self a few units of insulin, I think rather than seeing the disappointment in front of me with a high reading I give myself insulin then test a bit later after it's come down.... But my feelings aren't always right as I done it earlier this morning and I'm currently 2.7..... this has happened before yet I still do it! when will I learn!

Learn now!!! You have the meter for a reason :) I have often felt high or low and checked only to find my levels are good. How can you correct without knowing how much you need to correct by?

Seriously, if you felt high but were in fact somewhere between 4 and 5, it happens, you could put yourself in a very dangerous place.

Don't think of a meter as something that's against you! It's a tool to help you, not to make you worse :) look at it as a guide, not a guilty conscience!

I would agree with the above, the meter is there to help you.
I always look at the averages my meter gives me and hate when a high reading puts it up by 0.1 but I always test before taking any action.
You could end up in serious trouble if you take random corrections.
Don't be scared of it!

I know where you're coming from with this! I feel let down if I let myself down and get bad BG results, and I want to keep my records top notch! But @Scardoc is right, the time is now for learning.

Like you, I find that the way I feel is not always reflected by the BG result. So, in fact, the meter is a good ally in the daily battle to have nice results.

I have to remind myself that the only person who really understands my results is me. Therefore, I have to be strict and honest, otherwise, who's kidding who? :)

Thanks guys I know it's wrong, and i definitely need to stop myself doing it it's happened at work before and I get so cross with myself but continue to do it so I need to stop, like someone above said, NOW!! I think I thought if I posted about it I have admitted it and can now move on from it?

Think of your meter as your bestie mate - always there to help you and reliable :) On this occasion mostly always right too!

@Mrsass - here's a different way to think about it. If you feel high and test, and you are high - congratulate yourself for feeling it and doing something about it. If you feel high and test, and you're not high - congratulate yourself for good control. Win/Win situation.

my meter has told me the same thing twice this week - I can't eat my wife's swedish crispbread without spiking - They are lying about the carb content.

It's also told me I can eat bread if I dose about 10-15 minutes ahead of time

Thank you meter.
