Bit freaked out by symptoms

hi @Samgillard you do not quite provide enough information about your test but with the other symptoms even if you aren't D then you have something else going on. If you had just eaten in the last couple of hours then that level may be "normal". So I agree - go talk to the doctor even if it is just "another" urinary infection. However as you have had so many recently I would request he gives you an HbA1c test

Thrush is a symptom and I had it as well, I insisted my doc for it though i was quite confident i would not have it as no one in the family has it and I eat very healthy but i would say moderate on exercise, daily commute for me to and from work in London is enough to make me walk for about a mile everyday, i would really insist them to have the blood test done, alternatively if they keep saying they cant or wouldn't, just buy a cheap meter as other members suggested.

I'd say it's time to find a new GP if they're not really listening to your concerns.

@Brunneria @noblehead the problem there is my bloody gp seems to think a paracetamol fixes everything but will try again thankyou for your replies x x

Ah, one of those.

How about asking for a referral.I don't think they can refuse.
The doc may agree to a few blood tests just to avoid the hassle and expense of referring you. ;)

It's really best to get the glucose tolerance test done at the doctor's office. I recommend a 3 hr glucose tolerance test. What this means is that when you go in, in the morning without eating anything, they take your blood and send it to the lab for your fasting glucose. Then, they give you 75gr of pure glucose (basically sugary water) and one hour after drinking it, blood will be taken again for the 1 hr post eating glucose levels. Then you will wait another hour and give blood for the 3rd time for the 2 hr post eating glucose levels. This is the most comprehensive and sure test to check for diabetes.

Fasting glucose
1 hr glucose
2 hr glucose.

I was diagnosed with type 2 with this test. My fasting and 2 hr glucose levels were normal. My 1 hr glucose levels were too high. I basically read up on this before I went in and demanded a 3 hr glucose tolerance test. Many doctors check for diabetes by just checking the fasting/and or 2 hr glucose levels. If the same had been done for me, I still would have been undiagnosed. So demand this test if it's in their means to do it.

The issue with finger prick testing is that it can be a few points off. It's fine to check blood glucose after diagnosis but not the best way to diagnose in my opinion.
