you can if you want to, there are short acting oral meds you can take for special occasions.....or is that against the rules?
oral repaglinide

Hmm @jack412

Is that the diabetic equivalent of a morning after pill? What a vile thought.

But then I would prefer to only use drugs when necessary.

On topic:

Yes. I get you. Sometimes you just want to stuff your face with something soooo decadently bad for you...

In such moments, I tend to find something decadently gorgeous that is on the approved list, and pig out on that.

For me, this has included (so far)
Fat bombs
Coffee with masses of cream
Steak with onion, Stilton and mushrooms
Low carb scones (these are fab, esp with clotted cream)
Pork scratchings (better than crisps!)
Hot chocolate (cocoa, cream, xylitol)

But I do feel for you. Nothing will ever replace pizza.

Edited to add the scone list.

I think they are perfect for a low carber, we don't have trouble with our background insulin, so we don't need a long acting. It's the post meal highs at a social gathering that can do us in.
someone's birthday, pop a pill and go for a pizza sounds fair to me....I'm choosing LCHF, it's not a religious calling :)
I'm taking 3 diabetic tabs a day now, another one now and again isn't OTT

I love cauliflower base pizza, such a good discovery after 2 years of no pizza.

How do you make it?

I tried it once (blended cauli mash spread under pizza topping)
Hated it.
I found it offensive (I'm not exaggerating) that something so amazingly lush as pizza should be corrupted by something as healthy as cauliflower. Weird but true. :)

I blend up about 2 cups of cauliflower, fry it slightly in oil, then mix in a bowl with some herbs, garlic if you want, and 1 ball of mozzarella shredded, and some salt, then add one egg when its cooled a little, you dont want scrambled egg, then I put it in a quiche dish patted down, cook for about 15-20 mins, then add topping, I use passata for the tomato sauce. Then put back in the oven for a bit depending on your topping.

If you're ok with burgen bread, why not put pizza topping on it and bake? Never tried it myself but pizza is just glorified cheese on toast, yes? ;-)

Thank you I'll try it :)
