All reading from same finger same bloods,

Don't understand?

Sorry breakfast 1 slice of toasted Bergen bread, normally under 7 2 hours

Hi John,

There is nothing unusual in those 3 readings from same finger/same blood/different finger whatever. They are all within the plus or minus 15% range that our meters have. No meter is accurate. All you can do is average the 3 readings for your written records. Same thing happened to me with my Accu-chek mobile meter last night and again this morning. Apart from the toast, what else did you have? What did you have on your toast and did you have a drink or exercise at any time between eating and testing?

Bluetit, thanks reply, bread was with butter only & 1 cup of tea no sugar naturally, and a little milk. It was just a high reading for me after 1 slice next time I'll try another meter and see what that says.

The tea and/or milk may not have helped. Caffeine can raise blood sugar levels, as can milk, although I find very little difference in my levels whether I have a cup after a meal or not. Yes, do try the same thing again.

What would you normally expect to see after breakfast John? And was the 5.3 around your usual pre reading? The pre/post difference is important, as well as the actual number. And how long before you actually munched on the toast was the 5.3 reading taken?

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. :):D:pompous:

Andbreathe, normal pre breakfast is in the fives, anything from 5.1 to 5.8, it wasn't so much the 7.4 but the differing readings I know Bergen is still bread but I only have 1 slice per day and it's never given me that sort of reading after 2 hours let alone longer.

I'm using the same codefree strips that appear to have been calibrated differently so it could be that.

Anyhow tomorrow going for 1st proper blood test since diagnosis , so those results are of more interest to me at the moment.

Thanks for your interest, as far as the Spanish Inquisition , I'm used to it, have 4 girls and a wife, and if you'll excuse the expression even the dogs a *****

Good luck tomorrow John.

Five women at home? I'm sure you'll have been well trained. :joyful:

Bluezot you mentioned that caffeine raises blood sugar ? I have never heard this before and I drink quite a lot of black tea with lemon each day could you let me have any information you may have .Thanks
CAROL
