Hi we have workmen here so no shopping trip.instead I've made soup with what have in.. So..one carrot half cabbage one onion two leeks broccoli and half cauliflower some corrinader and some diced beef.four veg oxo cubes.. Slow cooker
.my question is how on earth do I check the carbs.. I'm trying to be exceptionally good from today.

Can you change anything if you do count the carbs?

Having said that, I'm sure someone can supply a number, it sounds fairly low.

No can not change was just a wonder. Sorry

Sometimes the internet doesn't convey the right meaning to how things are written.
It's me that should be apologising if I came over as critical. It was supposed to be a 'don't worry' comment, as it sounds quite low, and if you can't change it, it's the best you can do anyway. :)

You also made me think of a good stew today, as it's a cold, miserable day, and it sounds quite good for later.

That's ok I hate waisting people's time to be fair.. Was sat here just simply wondering how much it was.. Yes it's raining and weather turned here in East mids..x

Sounds low carb if you leave out any bread to accompany this
Sure to be beefy with various veggies tasty too
Do let us know how it tastes ?

Perfect for a drizzly autumn lunchtime .

Hi
I have done a quick calculation for you, I haven't included the beef as that has no carbs, the total carbs is for the whole amount of soup, not exactly extreme low carb but very good for you and something I would certainly eat:) It sounds tasty and filling

about 30g if serves 2 or 15g if serves 4, of course it's only approximate as I don't know exact size, weight etc

Half carrot 9g
Onion 16g
2 leeks 20g
Broccoli 4g
Cauliflower 6g
4 veg cubes 10g

Total net carbs 65g

Yes I would love to,eat it , my type of veggie meal ...it's a yes from me....and agree very warming on a cold day ....I love making soup ...enjoy ..

Not the beef part though ...

The idea of soup is just to throw everything in that's available, we like to add bacon lardons for the meat as it always gives soup a lovely taste. Lovinglife's calculation looks about right for the carbs, but much depends on the size of the veg.

I would guess a serving could be 16 depending on thickness.
You could add a large knob of butter and then say LCHF good soup. or extract the diced beef and serve it to me as rich vegan soup

Sounds so appetising, do you know what? I think I will treat myself to a slow cooker this week, any idea on the cost (a reasonably priced one) Thanks

Wow I didn't expect it to be so high carb but it was lovely and some saved for another day.thank you all

Try Argos, always find them to be reasonable for kitchen appliances.

£20 to £40 ish
I would recommend going for a bigger one, as you can fill them up quite quickly without really meaning to, and then anything over you can freeze.
A little one is harder to plan for, it's easy to overfill, then it slops over when you stir it.

Buying a treat is always nice .....:) I just love my soup saucepan and hand blender for soup ...but a slower cooker you can make all sorts of lovely stews and hot pots yum yum ....hope you are feeling so much better as well .....eat to heal ...that is a new saying !
