I'm doing a test first thing in the morning do I need to do one before I go to bed this evening.

Hello Rosie,

Those readings look very good.

The best way to test out if a meal suits you is to test immediately before you eat. Then again at 2 hours after your first bite. You can also test at 1 hour after and 3 hours after if you wish. Look at the difference between the before meal level and the 2 hour level. If it is more than 2mmol/l that meal needs some attention as there may be too many carbs. An after meal test on its own doesn't mean very much.

First thing in the morning is a good idea, and if it seems to be consistently higher than you want, test at bedtime to see what difference there is.

My HbA1c was only just over as I think they say borderline is 48 and mine was 50. But they put me on 500g Metformin as I had several blood test over the last few months that was either borderline or just over and I had been feeling dry all the time and light headed.

I don't know why my pre meal test was higher than the one 21/2 hrs later.

Mine was 67. I declined medication and ate low carb. It is now 35.

The reason your reading at 5-15pm was higher could be anything. What did you do in that time? Did you have a drink, have some exercise, rush about? Also, our meters aren't 100% accurate. They only have to be within 15% either way. Your last reading could have been a rogue reading. Did you wash your hand beforehand? So many reasons. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm have been trying to do the low carbs diet for the last couple of days. Not finding it very easy as I not a very big meat eater, I had to force myself to eat the sausages lunch time as I was stuck on what I could have.

I lost 11lbs in a month and I was following the NHS Diabetic diet I had down loaded from the internet. Don't know what my blood reading was as didn't start doing that until today.

I have my 2hr type 2 education course on the 12th November. But will make my own mind up what cause of diet I will follow. Still got plenty more weight to loss.

Can stress make it go higher as I had only just got back from the hospital, for Physio on my wrist that's not working. So was feeling rather stressed.
