Bang goes the diet and also not eaten as much today because we are eating out with friends tonight.

Is it too late to ask for preferences?

First course of my choice Fresh Pineapple and Melon served with fruit coulis
or
Melon and Prawn Platter on a bed of lettice with marie rose sauce

Mushroom strogonff , flamed with brandy and onions
or
Penne Rosetti (Penne pasta, strips of chicken, bacon, spinach and mushrooms in a creamy sauce)
or
Vegetarian Bake , (Sauteed Courgette, oinions, tomato and potato in a creamy sauce topped with cheese)

Don't usually get around to the sweet course as the meals are rather large. I often ask for child portion.

Hello. I'm not an expert but if it was me I would think there would be less carbohydrate in the melon and prawn platter. With the main course I would ask for the mushroom stroganoff without rice. I will be interested to read what others think. Bon appetit! :)

Don't ask for the child portion.
Then no matter what you decide, you can leave the carbs, and still get a decent sized meal out of it.

So...

What did you have?

So far, I have never been out to somewhere that does decent food, where I haven't had at least 2 or 3 low carb options - even if it is just the ol' steak n salad or chicken Caesar type options.

Non decent places are the ones that rely on carbs to fill you up and skimp on actual food ;)

Changed my mind and had lentil and red pepper soup ---extreemly yummy.
Vegetarian Bake , (Sauteed Courgette, oinions, tomato and potato in a creamy sauce topped with cheese) this was nice, though very bland, and I don't know why. but not complaining, a lovely evening with friends. ( no drinks) only tea or coffee afterwards.

Hello Hazel. I'm glad you had a lovely evening. Your dinner sounds really good. :)
