7..7 fasting.Had a bit of fish from chip shop. Wife ate other half. Couldn't finish fish, I only had a quarter., which was 1pm.At ten past fours my blood is 9.9

5.6 at bed time last night... Only to wake up to a 6.3 this morning. :-(

Back from the Dr's......she wasn't mad at me for going off the metformin, but she wasn't impressed that I didn't tell her when I was doing it. Promised her that I wouldn't do something like that again.

My A1C is down to 5.2 ! :) and I can stay off the drugs! Next appointment is in 3 months. Feeling good about this.

Yay! Met free and happy. Just need to drop my cholesterol, hoping that comes in time with continuing this diet.
Excellent news. Well done !

Sorry to hear that. Others here take the batter off. Some find chip shop fish and chips ok I squirt in a bit more insulin.

This morning I had a nice 3.8. That’s mid-range for me, so all’s good on Planet Breathe.

As you know I’ve been low-grade grumbling a bit recently about some unexpected numbers. I’m reconciled to those now, but I was more bothered by their impact on my averages. Individual numbers (apart from those couple I’d already winged about) were absolutely fine, but my averages were increasing. Now, to be clear, I’m trying to widen my food choices a bit, and as a result, I really feel I have to accept I may have readings, and perhaps even an HbA1c that moves out by decimal points if I am to be persistent in that objective. I know that’s not an approach everyone will support, but I’d like a few more options, in UK, in particular. When we are away, I’m happy with loads and loads of salads, but with the colder weather right now, that doesn’t cut it for me.

Anyway, cutting to the chase, I decided to have a bit of a deep dive into my records this morning, to really identify where these numbers appear to be drifting. I’m such a data monster, I hate not knowing. Erm,………. I had some interesting findings. Well, it’s sort of like this. I had missed recording loads of meter readings in my records. And even more exactly, I had lots of gaps in my morning readings, where I seem to have sometimes lost the routine of testing and recording at once. So, numbers added in and the status quo is re-established. Memo to self; Get a grip woman!

Ahem.

Have a great rest of day playmates.

What were you before you ate the fish, and did you test 2 hours later? That is the only way to decide if the fish caused you problems. Personally, I can manage a whole chippy fish without it affecting my levels at 1hr. 2hrs. 2.5hrs. 3hrs. and bedtime. There is so much fat involved that it lowers the GI of the batter, and in my case lowers it enough not to spike me.

I get far more stressed seeing the impact on my averages than I do with the actual readings that caused this! Not obsessed or anything ....

I've stopped recording mine now, once my HbA1c was good, and I can identify what caused any spikes, if I see them, it seems to be something I can keep a track of in my head.

Excellent news Marko723... well done you should feel very proud. :):):):)

Feeling very proud. :-) And here the dietitian told me I shouldn't expect to see a a1c under 6, ever and that she never saw anyone drop their levels that far with out a lot of medication.

5.3 this morning for me and stayed no higher than 5.5 all day, had great with my daughter for dinner, kfc-just 2 boneless strips for me with my yummy Morrison's luxury coleslaw and 2 hours after only 6.2

When was your last meal before your fasting count at miday? It is generally not a good idea to go too long without food. You only get more hungry and overeat/eat the wrong food as a result when you do have a meal. Especially breakfast should not be missed
