Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Not happy again

5.7 at bedtime (normal average 5.3)
6.1 at 2am
6.0 at 5-15am
6.0 this morning.

So I was running at 6.0 all night. No explanation. Roast chicken dinner, good night's sleep, no stress etc etc. It's all a lottery.
 
I wonder if there's a seasonal cycle that affects BG levels relating to reduced hours of daylight? From an evolutionary viewpoint the brain and liver could be thinking that you need more energy because you have less time to run around and catch something to eat, and it's also colder so you need more to keep warm. Just a thought.
 
Since the daylight saving has begun my sugars have I would say gone up slightly, I do see a 5.6 5.7 now which earlier was a rarity to be honest.
I feel quite depressed, this is my first winter since diagnosis so may be no sunshine at all is not helping either.

It has not really lead me to comfort eat, never did that and not now either with such limited options to eat anyways :) but yes feel a little sad and would have felt better if it was a little brighter may be. Cant even work in the garden anymore for next 6 months.
 
5.0 before bed and 8.9 this morning!!

I think my toilet trips at any time after 5am are causing my liver to think it's time to dump sugar into my blood before I actually get out of bed and eat at 6.30 - need to experiment with less drinking just before bed I think!

You could well be right as regards bedtime and fasting readings are concerned. Mine are certainly on the up, whereas my pre and post meals are going down. Weird. If this carries on, my next A1c won't have improved as my ups will wipe out any benefit from my downs.
 
No, I've been very virtuous this week and have had more time to do some home cooking of LCHF dishes and have also been able to increase my daily exercise. Fair point about the calories , thank you. At the start of the week I realised I was consuming between 300-400 too few daily hence the introduction of the coconut oil.

Ah, extra daily exercise - you may have converted some fat to muscle and it weighs more......
 
I just went to the doctor and she said there is nothing to worry about, she told me everything is fine BP was 120 80 dot cholesterol was 3.6 1.7 and 1.2 liver functions are fine and a1c is 46 which she was shocked to see. I don't know how much it is in mmol but the strange sensation is still there. She checked the leg also to see if there was swelling or loss of sensation but she said everything is fine. I still have the sensation in my leg but she said may b you are just stressing out. Everything she said on the blooods is fine Ketones cholesterol a1c kidney functions. I asked her to give a print but she said they are our property so I dint ask again.

Quite. Don't ask, demand, and if she still objects go to the practice manager. It's your body and your blood.

Isn't it possible the liver decided to give you a "dump" for the energy needed for the walk because you hadn't had "enough" carbs/ your bs was lower than it felt you needed for the exercise?
 
I'm also feeling the cold badly now I've lost weight. I always had a touch of Raynaud's syndrome with my fibromyalgia but it has worsened of late - I suspect that it is influenced by some of the lower levels of BG I've been experiencing as around 4.6 my toes and fingers get really cold

Glad you posted this - I also have fibromyalgia (and unofficially Reynauds in a couple of my fingers) I will watch out for these lows though realistically I'm rarely in the fours)

Back from the Dr's......she wasn't mad at me for going off the metformin, but she wasn't impressed that I didn't tell her when I was doing it. Promised her that I wouldn't do something like that again.

My A1C is down to 5.2 ! :-) and I can stay off the drugs! Next appointment is in 3 months. Feeling good about this.

Yay! Met free and happy. Just need to drop my cholesterol, hoping that comes in time with continuing this diet.
