Not coping...

Hi caity

I'm so sorry you are having such a tough time. I suffered from anorexia and used to manipulate/skip insulin for years. It is a seriously horrible situation to be in and it needs professional medical help. I know you are at rock bottom, physically and mentally but somehow you need to summon up enough strength and energy to seek structured help and support. You deserve to feel well and happy.

Diabulimia -diabetes and eating disorders -is unfortunately not uncommon especially in young women. It is an all consuming illness that affects every part of your life. It isn't your fault, it isn't just being a bit fed up with having to inject insulin and count carbs. It is a fully recognised illness. Please ask for help from your gp, DSN, diabetes team/dietician. Tell them exactly what you have said here, don't tell them what you think they want to hear or dismiss it as not important. I only started getting proper help from an eating disorders clinic and my diabetes team when I explained exactly the extent of what I was doing with insulin and food.

There isn't a quick solution, all the things we have to cope with become out of balance along with feeling physically exhausted from poorly controlled blood sugar. You need proper help and support to start to move out of the rock bottom situation you are in. It makes me so sad to hear of other people going through this and if I can help please let me know.

Take the first step towards a better future. I had forgotten what feeling well felt like, I was so used to high blood sugars, I went to work, got home and slept until starting again the next morning. It really doesn't need to be like that. Once you start to get better control of your diabetes and insulin you will slowly get strength and energy back to take on the other problems.

I wish you well, take the first step today towards getting better. It can be done and we are all right behind you.X

Agreed Wholeheartedly !

I lost the baby. Been on the Prozac for coming up 6 weeks now and taking them as prescribed.
So sorry to hear you lost your baby. Your depression may be the post natal type so maybe you need different medication for this and the help of a counsellor who specialises in this type. I can't hope to understand how you feel at the moment but I do feel for your loss and hope that with the help of all these lovely folks on the forum you can start to move forwards and start to feel better.

Hi Caity,I have depression as well and know how you feel, your not on your own,you have people here that care, its vital that you contact your GP,there is help out there, support groups that i attend really help, good friends that i have made help me to get through the bad times. First you must speak to your GP,tell him everything, hold nothing back and he will be your first line of support and keep writing to all of us,another line of support. You will come through it.

Also you could write it all down at a time when you feel able to do that at home then hand it to the doctor, it is not always easy to speak it all.Take care.
