Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

My go-to 4.1 for me again. I thought it might have been up a smidge this morning as I had a ginagerous pork chop last night, with saute potato, and some veg, of course. For anyone who can tolerate a bit of saute potato, I recommend trying this Raymond Blanc creation. I started off all virusous, thinking I wouild only have a few pieces of potato, but they were too nice! My OH makes the pieces a it smaller and blanches them a little longer, so that they become really crisp.

Actually, I could eat that again tonight, given the option.......... :hungry:

Er,........... Just so that you know that this particular meal doesn't take me off-piste, I was 3.8 before and 4.3 2 hours later, with a 4.1 30 minutes after that. I seem able to have a few "extras" these days.

Thanks for the 'Heads Up' John,

I have not yet counted how low my carbs are, or what my calorie intake is, on a daily basis, I presume when I stop or slow down too much that is something I will have to do.

I am for the most part really enjoying the food I am having and the quantities, and as you say not feeling hungry, although I do miss the not having a choice. I am 6ft so I'm hoping I can stop when I am 12st something ?

Thanks once again....
Neil
It may be a good thing for us if weight loss slows as we approach target weight. Otherwise we will overshoot and have to change diet in order not to lose more weight.

Of course I have a while to go before stopping weight loss becomes an issue:-)

Hopefully when I get to target weight and have been at this a little longer I too can achieve such excellent results....that's one of the things I love about this site.. It gives you hope :)

Maintaining is much harder than losing. I still lose the odd pound even now, after reaching target in early October.

Its a good idea to think about it a good bit before you get to target. I overshot massively and lost 9 lbs more than I wanted to. Its a fine balance between upping carbs a bit. But not raising bgs. I had to experiment quite a bit with portion sizes. Carbs and proteins. When I upped my fats. I lost 4 more pounds. I lost 2 stone so quickly on lchf. Its honestly not easy. My fasting at 7.9 and 8 is much higher than I want. Daytime average now is 5.8...

Congratulations @Bluetit1802! A great result. Didn't you have another test recently? I was diagnosed in November last year, tested February and May then they said it would be every November, it being the month of my birthday. When were you diagnosed?
My cholesterol came back 5.3 so slightly down from May. The detailed figures are at work but I don't think they're as good as yours! I went from 4.5 to 5.4 when I began LCHF yet others have seen a decrease. Strange! Lol
Again, congratulations dear. :-)

Thank you!

I was diagnosed in January. I was put on 3 monthly reviews, then moved to 6 monthly ones in June. All in all I've had 7 HbA1c's since January! (Had 2 at diagnosis time). My GP always throws one in for good measure. I was initially on 3 monthly ones, then moved to 6 months. However, I've actually had 7 HbA1c tests since January because my GP always throws one in if I'm having other tests, and I asked for an interim one in September for my own benefit, and was given one. This last one was on Tuesday (my birthday month). My next will be in June 2015, but I may ask for another interim in March.

I was delighted with my lipids results. My total is up slightly, but that is only because my HDL has risen so much. I take no notice of my total. I just look at the others and the ratios.

PARTY TIME!!!

Just rung the surgery for my blood results.

Lipids all improved, again!
A1c coming down

HbA1c 43 (6.1%) down from 45 (6.3%) in September
Total cholesterol 5.5 (Sept was 5.3)
HDL 2.2 (Sept was 1.8)
LDL 3.0 (Sept was 3.2)
Trigs 0.58 (Sept was 0.6)
TC/HDL ratio 2.5 (Sept was 2.94)
Trigs/HDL ratio 0.19 (Sept was 0.33)

I am delighted, especially the lipids considering the amount of cheese have been eating to stop losing weight.
THANK YOU all for your friendship and support. I couldn't have done it without you. :)

BRILLIANT bt :)

Started the day on a 5.7 too many carbs and high numbers today but thankfully going to bed at 4.9 :-)

I happen to love the stuff nuthead ... so I reckon my morning readings are just what they are but i wish I knew why :)

Now 7.1 after one hour so we'll see what happens at 2 hours
Do you do any exercise before breakfast rather than after? Just another thought......
