BS readings

Consistently nice results !
Thank you Clive- I'm very determined to stay in control of this thing! Some have said I've been too rigid but they speak as "outsiders" to our crew! (People at work etc not this lovely forum which he been my source of knowledge, advice and support!!)

"Outsiders" can be a nightmare. I know my friends are supportive in their own way, but I feel like screaming sometimes when I catch sight of some of the looks I get when I leave a piece of bread or similar, and just yesterday when I was musing about my dream vanilla slice one friend told me to have one, as one won't do me any harm. Pfuff.

What gets to me is when they speak of how much they admire my discipline, while they are stuffing their face with a second or third helping of desert. Peoples' actions speak louder than their words. If they really admired me they would try to emulate me. They are not really thinking of themselves as weak, they are thing of me as obsessive. :-)

Well! Just got back from my doctors and he said...we want to know what your doing....your hba1c is 5.3! All your other tests have come back well below the normal diabetic range.......even suggested I ought to raise my bs levels a bit!!!!!!!!!! Told him I was eating to my meter and he said that's great and would i like to run their diet clinic for them as I was the only diabetic to make such good results, so I told him to check out the advice on the forum here!
This forum has changed my life for the better and I thank you one and all :))))

@alliebee and @Bluetit1802 - your bodies will settle after a short while. I haven't gained any weight; indeed have to up things from time to time as I seem to start sliding downward, but my body has softened itself out a bit,....... Or I'm just getting used to razor sharp collar bones!

Excellent Clive... well done. Dont you love it when you know more than they do :)

6.1 fasting
5.7 post breakfast
5.1 pre lunch ( forgot I'd handled a pickled onion before coming out , tested and got 9.1 initially!!)
5.6 post lunch

so 4.9 pre dinner
and 4.9 after dinner- thanks to 21 minutes cycling. I expect it'll go up overnight as dinner consisted of protein and more protein with a side order of more protein.

Fasting 6.2 (equals highest ever)
1hr after brekkie 7.0
before lunch 5.8 (almost highest ever)
1hr after 6.2
2hrs after 6.7
before tea 5.7 (highest ever)
1hr after 6.5
2hrs after 7.2

I'm getting worse and I don't like it. Where have all my 4's gone?

Fantastic readings there!

Errmmm so does eating protein make sugars go up?

Pre dinner 5.1
After 5.6

Alliebee those readings are great :)

Im going to start 10mg Forxiga (Dapagilflozin) tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to see low readings soon!

I read on a recent post of your low carb veg cheese bake. Do you have the recipe please?

Have you changed any other portion sizes since losing weight? Maybe the extra cheese is just too much? I wonder as well whether there's an issue with the amount of carbs you eat now your busy trying weight stabilising? I seem to recall you have bread every day, potatoes quite frequently - you've maybe got away with that because you weren't also eating more fat and protein, especially the latter. It might be that you need to drop the bread and make calorie deficit up in a non carby way. Just a thought.

Protein converts to sugar in the body especially in absence of carbs as some body functions do need carbs. I know that type 1s will calculate insulin for protein at I think 50% of rate for carbs so yes, you can expect a rise once the process of glucogenesis ( think that's the term) has taken place. Things like chicken and pork don't seem to have as much effect on me as steak and lamb.

No increase in portion sizes at all. I have slightly reduced my carbs, but only slightly. I now only have half a slice of bread as I was working on my post meal 1hr spikes, and although we have potatoes most days, I never have more than 2 small ones. My post meal spikes are fine. I think it's the protein from the cheese. It's the only thing that I've increased apart from a bit of cream once a day in coffee instead of a cup of tea, and the odd sausage..
