Read on a post earlier about Aldi selling some 85% Cocoa Dark Chocolate, so went out and bought some. Carbs are 4.6 g per bar and there are 5 bars per pkt for £1.15

For quality and value you can't look beyond Aldi's Mosser Roth Chocolate, not sure that you've got the price right Adrian, I thought it was just over a £1.

I stand corrected Noblehead it is in fact £1.15 and not .59. Must have been looking at the wrong prices. having said that, I've also noticed that 2 out of the 3 bars are 70% and not as they should be 85%. These were all stacked in the same box so took it for granted they were all the same 85%. Will have to take the 2 70% back and exchange them.
I'm going to ammend my first post.

this time of year they also do a dark choc truffle, think thats about 70%.

Hubby got a bar of Cote D'Or 86% Noir Brut
From his latest trip to france .

I dislike dark chocolate - its for my friends 60th birthday
next year .
She absolutely adores dark chocolate .
It has similar gram numbers to yours Adrian .

Some really great pictures and very clear too :)
Thanks for sharing them with us all .

I wouldn't imagine they'd be that much difference in the carb value between the 85% & 70% given the size of the individual bars, but take them back if you want and they may replace the whole product for you ;)

Lidl also do a very nice dark chocolate too, again it's reasonably priced and tastes good.

No problem Anna, If I can I will.
To be quite honest I can't stand Dark chocolate myself, but hey, beggars can't be choosers eh? Maybe someone knows of a milk chocolate that's low in carbs.

I wonder if feeding cows on a low carb diet would produce low carb milk..............................low carb milk chocolate:D:D

Adrian,

If you like milk choc, but feel you have to eat the dark stuff, then all you need to do is get yourself some extra thick double cream, break off a square of the 85% stuff, and use it to scoop up some cream. Snaffle. Repeat.
:D

But, if you are anything like me, it doesn't take long for your tastes to shift.
I now find that 70% tastes bland! while 80% ish is pleasantly intense.

That's done it!! I have visions now of melting the chocolate, pouring really thick cream over the top and scooping it out with a spoon. OMGdrooling smiley.jpg Being diabetic is worse than I thought.

Fraid Knot - they put the price up, as did Lidl with their JD Gross 81% bars (which I prefer becuase it's divided into 10 squares).

If my memory serves correct, 85% chocolate is normally about 22g carbs per 100g, 70% is about 35g carbs per 100g.

1/4 cup double cream, 100g dark choc and a knob of butter, heat the cream, melt in the choc and beat in the butter, spoon into petit four cases and cool, gives wonderful truffles, (you can also add flavouring to taste)

I go for the 70% because I find anything higher won't melt in my mouth.

May try the truffles over the holidays :-)

I thought that Lindt was pretty good until I read this. Thanks, now where's my nearest Lidl?

I love the 90% dark chocolate and would really love to try 100% one day.
