Things about type 1 that are sometimes a bit annoying....

@noblehead Already taken the step. Have a clinic appointment on 7th January to go and demand Tresiba (as my GP felt out of his comfort zone changing the insulin). Fed up to the back teeth of it.

Up until Lantus came out, I was using Insulatard and it's only been in the past few months that I've observed the Lantus issue (or at least consciously observed it). As we've discussed on another topic, I think it's related to weight loss and fat reduction.

I am looking forward to the appointment...!
have you reduced your dosage in reponse to weight loss/fat reduction, on teh basis of a decent basal test of course.

If you look at quite a few users on here there seems to be a strong correlation between those who are leaner/lighter and lower basal doses.

Indeed I have Dave. Pretty much halved my basal level and getting some good flat graphs now on the basal testing. This is linked to both weight loss/lean mass gain and change of diet to Low Carb.

Pretty much everything about Diabetes is a bit annoying...

The entire treatment for type 1 is made up of mild annoyances and inconveniences lol

Right now i can deal with injections, and testing... but what i hate the most is needing to eat when I am in no mood too lol

Situation 1
Prepare an awesome meal, inject for carbs i think i will be eating. Stuff my face even after I am full because i injected for that many only to find 2-3 hours later that I am low and need to eat more!

Situation 2
Inject lantus, grab a snack before bed (that i don't entire want) and then head to sleep only to wake up at 3am feeling a bit off.. All i want to do is go back to sleep, but instead i have to march downstairs to check my sugars and eat before i die...

Also, telling anyone who is none diabetic - "I need to eat, right now... I am about to pass out and die" (when you test and see a 2.5mmol/L) while they are deciding on which restaurant to pick and being told "Oh shut up, stop being so dramatic, you'll be fine!"

I wonder how they would feel if you 'weren't fine' :banghead:

Also people thinking I can eat anything I want ( type 1) and just take Insulin for it  er no I can't and no I don't :arghh:

So far this has not happened, but yeah i guess if i wanted to hold a grudge i could just go full hypo and teach them a lesson lol They would certainly think twice about waiting to long... but probably about even inviting me in the first place lol

Bit of a risk strategy! :D

Go for it !:)

but remember we need feedback on how successful it was as a strategy

i suppose you could ask for a written report from the A&E department that treated you :D
