Merry Christmas all!
I was diagnosed in September and just starting to come to terms with all of this stuff.
I'm slowly coming to terms with it all but what I am really struggling with is people's attitudes and lack of understanding. OH is supportive beyond belief and so is DSnearly18 but as for the rest of them!!
OH's mother was diagnosed as Type 2 and now she tells me she has moved on to being Type 1. I didn't think that happened but I'm willing to keep an open mind. Her latest is to tell me to eat a sandwich in the middle of the night and to drink regular not diet drinks as diet drinks are bad for you. I said if you don't mind I will follow the advice of my own doctor and nurse because your Type 2 advice obviously didn't work for you as you are Type 1. For once there wasn't much she could say!
As for Christmas, I feel so bad because there is a distinct lack of goodies around here. OH is trying to lose weight and learn as I learn and hopefully prevent the onset of diabetes.
For various reasons, money amongst others we have cut down on presents for everybody which is fine but I didn't no whether to laugh or cry when the first two presents I opened were a box of chocolates from a close friends and a box of sugary biscuits from OH's mother!!
So, will keep going, keep smiling and be relieved when today is over and I can get back to a normal routine!
