Day 2 no statins :) 5.2 and that's four outta the last five mornings in the 5s
Is it safe to stop taking statins? My friend has the familial version of high cholesterol. His body produces too much so diet doesn't help. Lots of his past family, males, have died young with heart problems, his brother had full bypass. Don't want to scare you, just keep you safe

Hi SJ

I started a thread on that exact subject 2 days back (statins - your experiences please) and I've elected to stop taking them as I felt they were doing more harm than good and in any event, my cholesterol readings are close enough to perfect. Thanks for caring :)

Wonder if I can use it with my Contour Next..... But out of curiosity rather than real need. Will find out how I'm doing when I see practice nurse for my bloods results.

What will it tell you though? It's just a solution of unknown value somewhere in the tolerance range of the meter. I had an email conversation with the manufacturers asking why they can't just supply a standard solution of known value for calibration purposes, they said it wasn't possible for all practical purposes. In my view the test solutions are pointless and useless.

So its not something that should give you a figure between x and y (being numbers 15% above and below a centre line z). Put that way, yes, I guess it is useless........

7.2 this morning been up most of the night with chest. Bad news guys had nasty asthma attack yesterday now in hospital :-( so posts might not be great.

:)6.9 mmol/l. Low carbing is beginning to work. Way lower than usual...still a bit to go though

5.9 this morning, higher end of my average, but after a tense pre bed hour with Lucy's on going pains I was relieved to not be higher
I'm also on the codefree batch ending 26, last but one pot opened this morning

6.6 at 1 hour post dinner.

Can;t say I'm crazy about that and would prefer a little lower.

6.5 this morning, and that's even after an emergency poo sprint for the back door with the puppy.

Mind you, would that have sent it up from excitement? or down from sudden burst of exercise? (Even a flight of stairs has an impact on my BG in the morning...)

7.2 this am - went to bed at 7pm last eve real sore throat and coughing hoping today it will go away :link:
