I have been diagnosed with diabetes and take metformin and have had eye screening which I have to have yearly does this mean that I will get free prescription glasses reason im asking is I have been gaving problems with my sight recently and my last glasses seem to be very hard to see with now I get headaches and struggle to see words now.im not after everything free it's just that I can't afford to get new glasses without saving up for them first but if I need new glasses now it will take me a little while to get the money together I don't know what to do with this situation.any information and advice on this will be much appreciated.thank you in advance :-) :-)

Hi, you can have free eye test, and if you have a low income then you can get help towards the cost of glasses.
Have a look here http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/1125.aspx hope that helps

Welcome to the forum @scouse kev,

How long have you been diagnosed? The reason I ask is because you will find that high blood sugars cause eye problems but once your blood sugars come down to a normal level your eyes will improve. If you can relate to this then I suggest you do not get new glasses. Most people find that a few weeks and then their eyes are back to normal.
