Any of you lovely folks know if you can have Branston pickle on cheese n crackers

Depends on how many carbs you can tolerate, and how big the portion size.

Do you have a meter, so you can test your own reaction?

With 26g carb, per 100g of pickle, it's pretty carb heavy. I'm sure it depends how much you're going to have. Perhaps add up the carbs you'd be having between your crackers and pickle and see how you feel about it.

As ever, if you decide to try it, test before and after and you'll know how suitable it is for you.

Some people might , like for example I have had half a teaspoon of chutney over christmas ..yes that much ...
Sometimes it is just a bit that is required for the taste ....

All individual of course

Thank folks might just forget it then. I can't test as I'm on diet only x

I'm on diet and exercise too, but I test regularly. It works out (using the SD Codefree) as very reasonable.
Can't imagine having control of my blood glucose without self funding the testing.
Worth every penny!
(Think it works out about 14p/test, after buying the meter for £14)

You really have to test.

It may be an unpleasant fact that the cracker could be worse than the pickle.

Or you could be fine with both.

There's nothing to stop you doing so, just be aware though it works out to about 5 gms of carbs per teaspoon.

Silverskin pickles are great to use .
Chop in half and plonk on cheese/crackers .

Less damage with my BG levels .
As just tiny onions in vinegar .

Branston spiked me more with the sugar content in it .
Hence why I tried small onions pickled in vinegar instead .

I agree, you must get your own meter and start testing. If your doctor has told you not to test, he is wrong.

I tried Branston Pickle with a fry up (no other carbs other than a few in tomatoes) and shot right up. It was only a small spoonful.

I have proper big pickled onions, sliced up. Baxter's are 3g carbs for 2 onions.

My latest current favourite is cheese and pickled onions! Just a nice tang but less than 5gm carbs! Definitely get a meter, you need to be in control! I got my own soon as I was diagnosed in June and its essential. As of this week I am diet and exercise only so it's vital I test to see how I adjust!
