In praise of the Vitamix!

Ok, so we got the Vitamix about 4 years ago, while I was going through my mega-raw-food-green-smoothie-fresh-soup phase.

Yes, it was ridiculously expensive (although we got a great deal, interest free, with instalments)
but this gadget is beyond fabulous.
I've probably used it 2 or 3 times a day, every day. For 4 years.

Hot soup in 8 mins
Home made low carb icecream in 90 secs
Bulletproof coffee
Green smoothies
Pate
Veg prep
Grinding grains to flour
Grinding nuts to flour
Whipping cream
Making peanut butter
Making hummus
Making stock from chicken carcasses
Making taramasalata
Making almond and cashew milk
And it even works like a normal blender too!

So, as I mentioned to @beardie a while back, it broke!
Deep trauma.
All I had been doing was a bulletproof coffee and it suddenly made a horrid noise, and started smoking.


Well, I FINALLY got round to ringing Vitamix this afternoon, and blow me down, it just gets better and better!

1. It was a free call to the US
2. The customer services lady was absolutely lovely
3. Apparently, we have a 7 year warranty. I will repeat that: a 7 year warranty!
4. The problem is with the cog connection on the bottom of the jug
5. The motor is fine
6. They are sending a replacement jug out to arrive very quickly
7. The machine is unharmed!
8. I haven't been cleaning it properly. I've been washing it in the sink. Bad B. From now on, I must wash it using the self cleaning function, so the cog thing gets cleaned as per instructions.

So how amazing is that?

I cannot tell you how DELIGHTED I am!

well I did think of Ideal World for the instalments, but maybe Amazon pay up front, unless you know of somewhere else cheaper,

We got ours from Ideal World. Very happy with it.
QVC are doing them too, so worth a price comparison...
My parents bought one from there, because they were so impressed with ours

Since my raw food days many years ago, it has always been a dream of mine to own a Vitamix and an Excalibur dehydrator. Maybe one day soon! (This week it has to be a new washing machine! )

I bought a much cheaper dehydrator.
It is great, but it will never be an Excalibur... One day, eh?

Great for LC crackers.
And kale crisps.
Don't use it often enough.

I use L'Equip FilterPro Dehydrator.

Have you made nut butter?

Yes.
It was gorgeous. But getting the salt content was tricky, cos if I didn't get it right at the beginning, it was impossible to mix in.

Cashew nut butter is exquisite.
